Word of the Week by Pepper Jones
Welcome firsties! For those of you not in the know, we have a 'word of the week' competition here at Sonora. A word is chosen, and you try to work into a post that week. As I won last week's, it is my job to choose this week's word, and then declare whoever I deem to have used it best the winner. This winner then picks the word for next week. You may make one attempt with each character that you have. You may not compete if you chose the word, even with other characters - for example, it was Pepper's post that won it last week, but I am still not allowed to enter it this week with my other characters. The headmaster knows all, so you will not get around this one! Whoever's entry is deemed best will receive five points for their house. It usually runs Thursday-Thursday, so you're getting an extra day this week.Ok, then... In the past, words have expanded your vocabularies by being quirky, and probably new to you. I am attempting to geographically expand your vocabulary this week, with the word canny. In addition to the general meaning of which you may already be aware, it has additional meanings in Geordie, the dialect of the city where I go to university, which is why I chose it.
