A Letter from Your History of Magic Professor, Thaddeus L. Flatt.
Regarding: The Sonora Academy Newspaper

My Dearest Students,

Naturally, there has been a good deal of preoccupation with some of your more immediate affairs- the Quadrennial Ball, C.A.T.S., end of term finals- and it is because of this that I have left the launch of our dear Paper to be addressed once those were committed to. As it is, the new term is nearly upon us, and with it comes the official creation of the Paper. Said creation, however, may have to be postponed should there not be the students available to support it.

For the Paper to be a success, there must be, at minimum, at least six students on board. There must be a representative from each house within that quota of six; and one of those six must take upon a leadership position, that of Editor, for the Paper to have a proper birth and rearing. A seventh position will be made available after those first six have been filled for one first year- who will be chosen after the first term has finished.

The point of the Paper is to provide yet another avenue for students at the Sonora Academy for Witchcraft and Wizardry to participate in a normal scholastic activity- of which there might be plenty of food for future development. A prime occasion for Paper coverage will of course be the Quadrennial Ball and the next year’s Fair, a cultural fair of sorts that will give all an opportunity to display prime interests and backgrounds- excellent fodder for an interesting article or twelve.

Remember, my dear students, that a Paper is made up of many interests: current affairs, social intrigues, extra-curricular happenings, the latest Quidditch highlights- all of these are waiting for a few diligent students to weigh their hands upon. So whether it is that you enjoy the fact finding rituals of a romp through the library, the salacious stalking of the latest boohoo-ing break-up, or simply the plumping of your academic resume, the Paper is the place for you to fulfill them all.

Please, then, future journalists, respond below to my entreaty, in order to cement the actualization of the first Sonora Academy Newspaper.

Ever Respectfully Yours,

Professor Flatt
