Here's my thoughts by Elly
They are a bit random but anyway...I like to think of magic as red hair (well I would, wouldn't I ;D)
If you've got both parents with red hair, chances are the kid will have red hair, with very few exceptions, but they do occur.
If only one parent has red hair, it depends on the genetics of the other parent as to whether the kid will have red hair (so can run either way).
If neither parents have red hair, kid is unlikely to, but there may be some recessive genes lurking around that come strong in the offspring.
Except in this case, red hair is magic. Did that makes sense to anyone other than me?
