It's really only the fifth and first years you need to watch out for. We're both in Crotalus and are not the least bit snobby the way they are. Adam isn't snobby at all. In fact, he'd be more worried that you'd be cruel to him.And even in the fifth years, Gwen Carey really isn't so bad. Lily didn't like her at first until she nearly killed Saul Pierce in a Quidditch game. Even though Lily has nothing personal against Saul.
I can't speak for the firsties, there may be more that are nice that haven't said anything yet. Since Laurie described the situation as "a nightmare", maybe she's okay too.
