Heeeere, little Pecaris! by Prof. Isis Carter
Having spent the majority of the summer in England, Isis was surprised at how relieving it was to be back to Sonora. It was, she realized, her home now, having spent all previous summers of her employment on the grounds, not to mention the school years themselves. The homesickness she had faced proved it, so while she appreciated Alfie Pye letting her spend the summer at his place, she thought for future summers she might try to stay at least on this continent.“Hey, Pecari first years!” The Feast was now over, so it was time to gather up her little flock of recently Sorted additions. Isis waved her arms to be seen above the shifting crowds; she wasn’t terribly small, standing at about five and a half feet, but there were those, particularly older male students if not the male professors, who could easily block her from the view of any small, unsure first year. Of course, Pecari first years were rarely very unsure, but the point still remained: she did need them to find her.
Soon enough, she found her handful of newbies, and she smiled down at them. “Hey there, everybody,” greeted Isis in her friendliest tone. “Welcome to Sonora! My name is Isis Carter, and I’m your Head of House. I’m also the on-call substitute professor, so you’ll only see me in class when your normal professors are sick or can’t make it.” Sonora had a full staff this year, so she was expecting to be pretty bored. Often times before when she wasn’t needed she would hunt down Nathan or Amelle for company, although now that the former had a teaching position, that left her with just the latter. Not that she was complaining. She had nothing against loitering in the library with Amelle.
“We’re about to take off for Pecari Common Room,” she explained, “so if anyone has any questions right off the bat, now’s your chance.”
