At the end of the meal, Selina walked over to the Crotalus table, doing a quick check of the new faces. Their colouring had faded but they still looked right…. One boy, and four girls. Four was a lot of girls to put into a room together, especially if they weren’t used to sharing. She hoped it would work out. And that the solo boy wouldn’t be too lonely.“Crotali, this way,” she called, gathering all the students. The older ones now received the password earlier in the day, so could have made their own way back, had they tired of the feast earlier, but most people stayed to the end. She spread the prefects throughout the line, just in case there were any stragglers, although five was not a difficult number to keep track of, and led them off through the school.
As they made their way along, she pointed out useful features that would help them to guide themselves back in the morning, making sure to identify the rooms nearest their common room that they could locate on the maps they had been given (the common rooms themselves, of course, being omitted from the document). Rounding one last corner, Selina brought them to a stop.
