It had taken Keme some time to get used to and really think about the pros and cons of doing so before making up his mind. He did this for every important situation in his life. He did this for the year or so before beginning the Archery club and he started to do it during midterm when his family began to ask him what his thoughts were on what he planned to do once he graduated from Sonora. This was something he probably always thought about but now it was coming down to the wire and he really needed to work out what he wanted to do with his life.
But that was neither here nor there at the moment. His future was not currently on his mind. Well, he supposed it was in a way. No one ever really knew where these things went. Some ended up going really well while others… ended in complete failure. Keme wasn’t even sure if it would go anywhere at all, if he were to be honest with himself. He wasn’t the most fantastic looking person at the school, he wasn’t vocal, or popular in any such way, but he thought he had at least some decent traits in him that would cause a girl to fancy him at least a little bit. He had top grades in his lessons, was an Archer, a great tracker, his grandfather was the Chief, he was Pureblooded, he was healthy and worked hard to keep fit… He was sure he was somewhat handsome, or so he had been told (but he wasn’t sure if he could really count the girls at his tribe as being trustful with their assessments).
Even so, he knew that they were very different and if he ended up dating her, it wouldn’t likely continue on after Sonora because he couldn’t fathom anyone wanting to live on his lands that wasn’t raised there themselves. He loved his lands and although he was likely going to go to University for four years after Sonora, he was, without any doubt, going to live his life with his tribe. He couldn’t expect anyone else to do so. Not that he was thinking of marriage, but just his future in general. His tribe lived well. Their homes were certainly not shacks, but they weren’t the manors that he was sure some of his classmates were accustomed to. It wasn’t that his family wouldn’t afford such styles, but they chose not too. Everything was a precious resource that they did not see the point in wasting.
Even so, so much was considered during his evaluation of his feelings, Keme gained enough confidence with going through with the possible humiliation of rejection. It was now or never and either it went somewhere or it didn’t. He would just have to deal with it if it came to that.
Keme walked into the hall and looked around nervously for his friend. He realized while standing there that he had first met her the year of his first ball. When was that? His first year? It was all a blur now. But he had gone up to a random girl to ask to the ball with him and that girl had ended up being Willow. They had struck a friendship after that.
Spotting her at a table, Keme made his way over and took a seat next to her. Instead of grabbing food though, he turned to her and nervously cleared his throat. “Hey Willow.” He greeted. “I have something to ask you, if you don’t mind.” He really hoped that no one was listening in just incase this all went sour for him. “Would you want to maybe, go to the Midsummer Fair with me?” Keme asked, “As a date?” He added to clarify his meaning.

Willow sat in the Hall, eating Sonora's extremely delicious beef tamales. She had a taste for Mexican food today. Though, she supposed what Americans considered Mexican food wasn't really authentic Mexican food. Of course, given this was a magical school in a state that bordered Mexico, she supposed it was possible. Still, the Teppenpaw didn't care, it tasted good .
And honestly, she was really really sick of worrying about things. More than anything, Willow wanted to be a normal teenager. Next year would be her last year of school and she felt like her time had been mostly a total waste. Yes, she'd learned magic and did well in her classes which was technically the purpose of being in school. She even had a friend. Still, though, she saw how carefree things were for people like Portia and Gemma, no more serious problems than the usual things about school and betrothals.
Not that she begrudged them. No, Willow would never ever want anyone to have to deal with such terribly serious stuff. She just wanted normalcy too. A little bit of fun before she had to become an adult though she was technically one already.
Granted, in some ways, the sixth year was lucky. Some people had to worry about what they wanted to do career-wise. Willow was not one of those people. While she could probably have a career if she wanted-Lily did-she didn't feel that kind of pressure to have to support herself. To worry about finding something she was passionate enough to do everyday that also paid enough for survival. For all the drawbacks and pressures of society, that was one small benefit. One less thing to worry about in a world that was full of worry.
Keme sat down next to her and Willow instinctively smiled. She was about to greet him-and recommend the tamales- when he began to speak. At his words, her eyes grew round and she blushed. "S-sure. I'd really like that." Wow, Keme wanted to go on an actual date with her. A big grin found its way to her face.
