When Louis had made the announcement that he was passing the orchestra on after he graduated, Connor had been relieved. He really liked playing with the group. However, he'd been unsure about taking it on because he was the entire low brass section and he couldn't play if he was conducting. So he'd gotten together with Ivy and Peyton so they could take turns getting to play. Peyton was less passionate about it than he and the other fourth year were, but admittedly, they needed her clarinet more than Ivy's piccolo as Jehan could play flute. Jehan was very versatile instrumentally.
Unfortunately, a bunch of orchestra members had graduated along with Louis (or before him) so they were down in numbers which rather sucked. And next year they were going to lose their trumpet player when Tasha left.
It was sort of depressing. Connor didn't want the group to die and especially not on his watch. Well, his and Ivy's but he just felt responsible somehow. He'd always been rather like that, wanting to take care of things and anyway, it had been his idea for the three of them to take turns conducting. He rather felt like it would be his fault if it failed.
Not that Connor had any real control over if people joined or if the students who came to Sonora played an instrument in the first place. He had heard tales of people pressuring others to join Quidditch and strongly disagreed with that so he couldn't turn around and do the same for orchestra.
Now it was their last meeting of the year and Connor was really going to miss playing with this group over the summer. At home he had to play his trombone by himself.
Anyway, this meant basically that they were going to be having a party. The fourth year had already gotten the house-elves to supply them with a spread of sandwiches, chips and several kinds of dip, cocktail shrimp, a meat and cheese tray, a veggie tray, mini tacos, jalapeno poppers, onion rings, and his personal favorite, cheese curds, In addition, Peyton had offered to make cookies and brownies. Connor had also procured several games for them to play.
He sat and waited for someone to show up. The door opened and he smiled, "Hey." The fourth year greeted them.
