Tobi was walking back to the Teppenpaw dorms after having successfully completing the potions class. It was his turn to return the bags to their room while Liac saved them seats at dinner. Even though there was always more than enough room in Cascade Hall during meal times since students didn't always have to show up at the same times the boys liked their little rituals. It was nice having someone to count on and Tobi smiled happily to himself as he turned down the hall towards the Teppenpaw staircase.
Out of nowhere a skinny arm shot out from a darkened doorway and grabbed him. Tobi dropped his and Liac's bags in astonishment and found himself eye to eye with the ever mellow Olivier Westley. He blinked a couple times, unsure as to how he ought to react. The first thought that jumped to his mind was that Liac had done something and Olivier was here to hunt his cousin down. Well, family loyalty would prevent Tobi from giving away his cousin. However, Olivier's grasp was strong and his eyes narrowed to a terrifying point.
"You ought to watch your step, Reinhardt," Olivier hissed under his breath, hands fisted into the sweater that Tobi's mother had lovingly knitted him and pressing Tobi up against the cold wall.
Tobi had no idea what to do. He had seen students get bullied on their way home to the community before but he himself had never been the target-- he'd always been too quick to be a victim of physical bullying and he had always let the verbal abuse roll of his back in an attempt to avoid reaching a physical level of fighting. His lack of response, however, seemed to satisfy the older boy and Olivier let go of Tobi's sweater, even seeming to pat out the wrinkles before smiling sweetly and walking briskly away.
Tobi looked around to see if anyone had noticed-- he couldn't believe that Olivier Westley who had before today seemed to kind and gentle, much like his sister, Lena, could be capable of such acts. When he was certain the hallway was clear, he bent down to collect the books that had fallen out of the bags and continued on his way to the Teppenpaw staircase, frowning deeply. So into his own thoughts, wondering what it was that Liac could have done to piss Olivier off so much-- and what, exactly it had to do with him, Tobi even performed the jig without much protest (an action that normally annoyed him beyond no end).
Upon his arrival in Cascade Hall, however, Tobi located Liac rather quickly and his confusion soon turned into rage. His cousin had a look on his face. A look that Tobi knew quite well. It was the look of self-satisfaction, mischief, and a tiny hint of guilt like he'd done something really awful. For the first time at Sonora, Tobi stalked over to the table and once he reached it stopped directly in front of Liac. He slammed his hands down on either side of his cousin and leaned in close to his face. "What. Did. You. Do?" He asked, his voice low and dangerous. "What in Merlin's name did you do and what does it have to do with me?"

Tobi had just arrived as Liac finished dishing up some veggies onto their plates, his earlier mission replaying in his mind on a continuous loop. Throughout Potions, Liac had been wondering what Tobi might say when he found out the good news. Possibilities ranged from a deadpan face accompanied by a sarcastic comment, to a bright smile and a hug of thanks. Unfortunately, when the boy himself slammed his hands down onto the table, leaning close, and obviously pissed, Liac figured his guess had been a little off.
Recently Liac had wanted to put some more slapstick into his jokes, and thought it would be pretty funny to greet Tobi with a familiar kiss on the cheek like Bugs Bunny did. The hare was like an idol to the 11-year-old, only being beaten by Deadpool and his Dad, on Liac’s list of cool people. Bugs was everything Liac wanted to be, besides a metal charmer of course. The character had style, class, and his slapstick was top notch. Almost every Saturday, Liac and all his siblings woke up early to watch the classic show, laughing the morning away before they started working. However there was a time and a place for slapstick, and Liac knew this wasn’t one of them. The sound of Tobi’s voice, mixed with his harsh words signaled he wasn’t in the mood for jokes. All Liac could do was stared wide-eyed as his cousin hissed angrily. Even so, this was as good as an intro as ever to the big news.
“I know you said you didn’t want to go to the ball, but I knew it wouldn’t be any fun without you, and when I did finally convince you to go”- Liac having assumed that Tobi would give in to his incessant begging eventually- “I thought it would be really lame if I had a date and you didn’t. So…” he said finally getting to the point, “I asked Lena Westley for you! Isn’t that great! You should have seen how surprised she was!”
Liac gave his cousin a pat on the back as he nudged Tobi to sit down so they could finish banging out the details. “I already wrote to Auntie to send your dress robes, so you don’t have to worry about that,” he continued paying no mind to Tobi’s feelings for the current situation. “Oh and I’m going with Chaslyn, so the two girls will probably be able to chat a bit seeing as they are both second years,” Liac said happily. He assumed that because the school was fairly small that obviously everyone was friends with all their classmates.
“So watcha think?” he asked with a grin, finally consulting the main pawn in his scheme.
