Your attention please, fifth and sixth years by DH Skies

Selina wondered how the events of the previous term would affect the vote for head boy and girl. In previous years it probably hadn't seemed much more than a decoration – almost an award for six years of proving oneself a diligent and responsible student. And that was at best – at worst it merely could be seen as a popularity contest. But after last term, the possibility would be fresh in people's mind of the responsibility that could come with the position. It perhaps seemed something of a poisoned chalice and she wondered whether all those listed on the ballots would even want the position. The majority of them, of course, had stepped up last term and done the school proud. Even though the students picked the head boy and girl, the staff picked who they were picking from.

After breakfast one morning, she called for the fifth and sixth years to stay behind.

“This morning we will be asking you to vote for head boy and girl for next year,” she explained, handing out the slips, “Please consider your choice carefully, and base it on who you feel is best for the position.”

She didn't feel the need to labour the point. The students had far more direct experience of having to trust in their head students than she did.

OOC – you don't have to post in order to vote, though posts are welcome. In order to vote, fill out the form here – one vote per character in the relevant years.
