A statement on behalf of the school by DH Skies

Following a lengthy meeting, where both sides seemed equally baffled and frustrated that the other could not fully explain the goings on of the past few months, a statement that was mutually agreeable to both was put together.

The past few months at Sonora Academy have seen some unusual occurrences which we are still getting to the bottom of. We are pleased to report that no harm has come to anyone. We apologise for the inconvenience and worry caused to parents by the impossibility of communicating with the school, due – we believe – to the unusual weather formations around the grounds. These also seemed to play a part in the temporary disappearance of the staff. We are proud to report how admirably the students of Sonora coped with this situation, and would like to reiterate that everyone is safe and well.

In light of the situation, parents and guardians are welcome to collect their children immediately for an early start to the Midterm holiday. For any parents or guardians for whom this is not possible, or who would prefer their children to remain in school, the school will remain open in the usual fashion.

A joint investigation by the school and the Ministry has been launched in order to establish how this was able to happen. We appreciate that there are many questions, and we ask for your patience whilst we attempt to answer them.

With midterm only a week away, and parents champing at the bit to verify with their own eyes that their children were safe and well, there seemed little sense in forcing them to attend, especially as the staff had their hands full with attempting to get to the bottom of exactly what had gone on, and solve the many problems arising as a result.
