Charlie B-F-R

Charlie was excited for the fair at the end of the following term, and already had a great idea. He loved looking through magazines at the latest styles but, being a guy, he got precious few opportunities to do any more than appreciate the pictures. He relished every opportunity he had to try the looks out on willing victims and running a hair and make-up booth at the fair would give him a brilliant opportunity to exercise his styling skills. It might also be a good way to meet like-minded people, as he didn't think he could run it single handedly. Thus, a few weeks before the break, he posted an announcement in the Hall.

Know your summers from your winters? Have a talent with tresses? Volunteer for the hair and make-up booth at Sonora's summer fair, run by Charlie B-F-R. Sign up below!

He felt that the look of the poster was an important part of proving his qualifications to run the booth. He'd avoided this season's colours on the grounds that such things were fickle, and were bound to be out of style by the time of the fair. That might not have mattered to some people but he felt a timeless look was better. The poster was on heavy cream paper with black swirls accenting the corners. It looked like an advert from a high-class salon, which definitely felt appropriate. He pinned it proudly in place, looking forward to seeing who signed up.

Clara Abernathy

Clara was walking into Cascade Hall when she spotted something up on the bulletin board. She stopped briefly to read its contents and smiled, shaking her head slightly. She had a feeling that Charlie might post something up for the fair she just had no idea what it might have been. It wasn’t really all that surprising to her to find that he was putting up a fashion booth. She grinned to herself. Its too bad I don’t really know all that much about fashion, not to mention hair and make-up she lamented to herself. Maybe if I did I could help him make other people look awesome. She shrugged at that thought. Clara had never really been one to pay much attention to fashion trends and make-up. Forget about hair. She had enough issues with her own hair to be able to tell people what to do with their own. She was lucky if she could get it to braid right most days just so it was out of her face. Her clothes usually consisted of whatever she felt was comfortable at the time. It matched (to a degree) most of the time. She liked to call her style “Retro Comfy”. Since she spent a lot of time working with horses and grapevines, it made sense to her if to no one else.

Clara dug in her bag for a pen and decided that if she couldn’t really help other people look fashionable herself, she could at least offer Charlie a hand as he made other people look good. Maybe if she signed up to help him, he could help her a little in return. Under the posted part where it asked for a name Clara printed hers with a small note.

Clara Abernathy…hopeful stylists’ assistant. I may not be able to tell others what’s fashionable, but I’d be happy to help you make them fabulous if you’ll let me

Darina Porter

Darina had decided that Charlie was right and she needed to be herself, however, she needed to also have some fashion sense about it. Even if her brother or cousins weren’t there with her. Rina was never really the nervous type, so that had been an odd feeling for the girl. She dealt with it though, so it wasn’t that big a deal anymore. She’d gone through most of the rest of the half term with her odd style showing, but at least it was fashionable and did not look like she’d vomited up a rainbow.

That day, for example, underneath her robes she was wearing a black button down ¾ sleeve shirt, sapphire blue Capri pants, black ballet flats and a necklace of white (and the same color blue of her pants) pearls. In her dark hair she had a headband of the same blue and white beads. Her nails were also painted (painstakingly, she might add), the same color blue. She left her room and dorm, headed down to Cascade Hall for breakfast when she saw the signup for Charlie’s booth at the Faire.

“He wants to do a hair and makeup booth! That’s sooo cool!” she said excitedly, pulling out a pen as she read it. Clara’s name was at the top of the list and Rina looked at it curiously. Clara had never been all that interested in style before now, and Rina wondered what had changed that as she added her name to the list.
