The concert was steadily approaching and as such, it was time that the concert list be provided to the students. On the board in Cascade Hall was pinned the signups for the Concert. Although it was not required to put what exactly one was doing, it was required to say the title of the act, write the names of each individual in the act and instruct if any additional equipment that might be needed. If a student was not going to be involved in an act, then they were required to sign their name and advise on the behind the scenes duty that they were going to be taking care of.

The staff would work with the acts or individual performers as well as the behind the scenes crew during the next couple of months outside of classes to be sure that everything was running smoothly the day of the concert. Although the students who were performing only really had to direct the stage crew with what they needed and listen to the staff with timing. The stage crew would work closely with Kiva and her team to ensure that set designs were all set for the big day and then again on the big day to complete the lighting and set ups for the evening. It would be a long day, but in the end, she was sure that everyone would be happy for having been a part of it.

Performers and Stage Crew, please list the title of your performance, each individual’s name in the act, and any additional instruction or equipment you may need below. If you are not in a performance, please simply put your name and Stage Crew beside it.

OOC: Please take notice that the concert is set to begin on July 27th, so have your performances all ready to go by then. Any question, please email the site. Email can be found in the link above.

Valentina Bentancourt

July 15, 2012 7:30 PM
She was stressed. Valentina was at the point where she had no idea what was going to happen to her if she failed her examinations. She was hardly ready for them and was honestly afraid of failing everything or passing with abysmal grades. The Spaniard had to maintain a certain level of grades for her mother to be happy with her and let her do the things she liked. However, it was more than clear that Valentina couldn’t handle too many things at the same time. Her focus tended to wander in one direction at a time. In her case, being a female hadn’t provided her with the multitasking gene almost every woman had. Her mother was a master of multitasking, every girl she knew was one, too. She had been robbed of it, apparently.

The Spaniard entered the Cascade Hall seeking some sustenance when she saw the announcement of the upcoming concert. She smiled and rummaged in her bag for the self-inking quill she was sure she had in there. She finally found it and wrote her name

Valentina Bentancourt, ballet, Teppenpaw. Stereo

She was going to provide the track she needed for the piece of her favorite ballet. It had been a while since she danced in front of people and the fifth-year was starting to feel the excitement of it.

Clara Abernathy, Pecari

July 25, 2012 10:48 AM
Clara had been soo busy with the practice sessions for the concert she forgot that her, Brielle and Waverly hadn't signed up yet. She also realized that they hadn't really given any thought to what they were going to call their piece. Clara decided to mull it over for a bit as she made her way down to the sign up sheet in Cascade Hall. Having already sent the invitations out to her dad and her aunts she knew that that chore was already done. She was really looking forward to the three of them showing up, well four if you included Uncle Damon. She wasn't really sure if Aunt Simone would be coming or not. Aunt Simone spent a lot of time out of the country on business or who knew there. Still it would be nice if she did make it.

Clara was still thinking about what to call their piece when she found the sign up sheet tacked to the board. As she dug through her bag for something to write with an idea struck her. If they were calling their group the "Moonbows" then why shouldn't the name of their piece have something to do with the moon? The more Clara though about it the more she liked it. Now to just make it offical. She pulled her quill out of her bag and confidently signed their names to the sheet.

Clara Abernathy, Aubrielle Thornton and Waverly Canterbury...playing piano (Waverly), violin (Clara) and singing (Aubrielle). Piece is titled "Moonlit Melody". We will need 3 spotlights, black drop curtain and a piano.

Reggie, Marcus, Jorge, Aria, and Fae

July 25, 2012 10:01 PM
Reggie had had her own sign up for her movie for a while and since their production was well on their way, she didn't see anyone else really joining them and felt that now was a good time for her to post her list:

ZOMBIES!!!

Characters/Actors:

Male Lead – Derry Four
Female Lead – Reggie Parker
Mad Scientist – Laurie Stratford
Best Guy Friend – Marcus Williams
Best Girl Friend – Hope Brockert
Random First Victim of Scientist – Sully Quincy
Zombies – Kate Bauer, Mellie Goodwin, Josephine Owen, Maddie Parry, Brielle Thornton, Jorge Garcia, Topher Calhoun (Laurie, Sully, Marcus, and Derry)

Off Stage Work:
Director – Reggie Parker
Camera Man – David Wilkes
Make up Artists – Fae Sinclair, Mellie Goodwin, Addison Thornton
Costume Designers – Fae Sinclair, Josephine Owen, Addison Thornton
Special Effects – David Wilkes

Additional equipment is a large white screen and a sound system.

*************************************************

Aria really had no idea about what she was going to do for the concert. The zombie thing was an idea, but she had no idea what a zombie was and felt a bit odd to ask when it seemed like everyone else had an idea. She also thought about joining the choir because she actually wasn't that terrible of a singer, but she didn't know any of the other performers and didn't want to feel like the odd one out. None of her roommates seemed to have wanted to do anything together, so that really only left Aria with one option:

Aria Yale, Stage Crew

*************************************************

Dulce was expecting this concert since the last one. She hadn't done anything with the last one unlike her sister who had danced with Charlie. But Dulce didn't really have much choice this year and although she would have been completely content as a stage crew member, she actually felt that her family would like it better if she performed. So, when she saw the sign ups, Dulce obediently signed her name:

Dulce Garcia, performing a song. Additional equipment is a microphone

Maximilian Joshua McLachlan

This entire Midsummer Performance was getting blown out of the water. He couldn't see the importance of it in the first place, but he did feel the tension that was going on around him. He was glad he didn't have that problem since he'd decided at the beginning of the term that he was going to be a part of the stage crew. He wanted to work the lights, but he'd take whatever he was given. As long as he didn't have to perform.

Josh knew there was a sign-up sheet. He had passed it every day for a whole week before he finally took the time to sign up. He would have to work with the lighting people and it would be good for them to know that he was interested. Since it was mandatory, he had to. Otherwise he would've just passed the sign-up sheet right on by. Taking out a quill, he wrote his name down quickly and walked out of the hall to the library; his haven.

Samantha Hamilton

July 27, 2012 5:40 AM
As she had been around for the previous concert, samantha had been keen to discover how different the format would be this year. She actually quite enjoyed the notion that forced everyone to participate in one way or another, because she was sure that there had been students four years ago who might have been too shy to sign up to anything, who might now have the courage to perform. It also gave the stubborn non-performers the option of helping out backstage, so everybody could claim a win.

For her part, Samantha was more than happy to perform. She didn't like to do anything to draw too much attention to herself - she'd always been a team player, not the star of the show - and so the choir she'd signed up for the last concert had been ideal. This time around, most of the singers from the previous choir had graduated, leaving just Samantha and Jane still around. Despite them both being in their sixth years, Samantha didn't actually know Jane especially well, though she liked her well enough from the time they'd spent together in classes and the like. She had considered asking Jane whether or not they should start up a choir again together, but then she had reconsidered, and decided simply to initiate the choir on her own. To her delight, several students had signed up, and with sufficinet practising, they'd formed a fairly pleasant-sounding ensemble.

The song Samantha had selected was California Dreamin', because she knew it from her childhood and she thought it would sound great sung in its three parts by their small choir of a good range of voices. She's managed to get her hands on some sheet music and a backing track that extended the signing time and didn't have long interludes of instrumentals. It was also a Muggle song, and she felt that it could never hurt to inject a little Muggle culture into Sonora, especially considering quite how clueless some of her peers (particularly her Housemates) could be.

When the sign-up sheet was posted, Samantha and the rest of the choir were already well into rehearsals, and so she signed up her whole team:

Choir, featuring: Rachel Bauer, Samuel Bauer, Samantha Hamilton, Sara Raines, Daisy Thorpe, David Wilkes, Josephine Owen & Jade Owen. Required: gramophone for backing music.

Addison, Brielle, Amira, Andri, Meggie

July 31, 2012 12:07 AM
Aubrielle Thornton:

Brielle was super excited for the upcoming concert. Though she knew that her sisters Andri and Addison really weren’t thrilled about being forced into it, but she wouldn’t let them get her stuck in the mud! Brielle was going to be involved in two acts. One with cousin Clara and Waverly and one with Addison and the others. Sure, Bri was glad to work on the zombie movie, there was something about wearing fun makeup and costumes after all. But the one Bri was super excited about was her performance with the Moonbows.

The three of them had been practicing together almost daily, but Bri took the time to practice on her own too. When she was the signups in Cascade Hall she walked towards it to sign them up, but noted that Clara had beat her to it. She also saw that Reggie had put up her cast list so she really didn’t have anything to put down on the paper. Awesome!

Finding a seat, she started eating before classes started.
___________

Addison Thornton:

Addison was lucky Reggie understood her plight and let her do backstage stuff for the movie rather than have a role in it. For this, Addi was glad! She wanted absolutely nothing to do with doing the concert, but there was no choice in the matter. She was forced to do as such. As the days went by, the fourth year got more and more nervous. The larger Teppenpaw girl got the dropsies day before; and even though she wouldn’t even be seen, the idea still scared the pants off of her.

The day the signups went up Addi started at it and all the words on the page looked to her that they were moving all over the place. Ohmygod… Ohmygod… Ohmygod… she thought as she felt the pounding in her chest get stronger. She was suddenly lightheaded and was having a hard time breathing. It actually felt like an elephant was sitting on her chest.

She hoped Reggie or even Brielle would think to write her name down on the page, because right then Addi knew where she was going…

The Hospital Wing.
___________

Megan Brownbriar:

Meggie knew what she wanted to do for the concert. She also knew that it was probably a superiorly bad idea in so many senses of the word, but she wanted to test her theory. The second year wondered what her father would do if she did something un-ladylike. She didn’t know if her father and the littles would show up or not, but Meggie decided she was going to show off her flying prowess. She’d hidden in the MARS rooms with a stolen (ish) school broom and practiced and practiced. There were weekend days where she did nothing BUT flying and felt as if she’d gotten some pretty cool tricks under her belt.

At this point, she could care less what her family felt. She wanted flight, the adrenaline rush that she knew her older cousin Briar learned to love. What SHE loved.

She walked up to the signups and wrote out:

Megan Brownbriar, Acrobatics, the only requirements is a lot of space and the theatre lights turned up. Please advise audience that the act is partly above their heads.
_____________

Andrina and Amira Thornton:

Amira and Andrina somehow ended up walking by each other in the halls one day when many of the other students had come up with something they wanted to do for the concert. The pair of them had no idea whatsoever what to do.

Amira knew that the one thing she could do well was flying and Seeking, but she knew better than to try to do that for the concert. That was nothing she couldn’t show off on the Pitch if only she was still the Seeker instead of a Chaser. She only hoped that next year she’d get her spot back once more. Either way, Andri and Amira had decided to do something together. Andri was going to read a poem out loud and Amira would act it out beside her.

They had chosen a poem that their father actually used to read them almost nightly when they’d expressly wished for him and he’d finally given in. Of course the poem he’d chosen had scared the piss out of Addison and caused Aubrielle to have nightmares for weeks just from thinking about it, but Andri and Amira weren’t afraid.

The pair planned to meet to sign up together on the sheet and walked up to it together.

“I’ll go first since I’m older, okay?” Amira said to her younger sister.

“Sure.” Andri said as she handed the pen to her sister.

Amira Thornton, acting out a poem out that

Andri took the pen from her sister and added, Andrina Thornton is reading aloud.

“Perfect.” Amira said as she smiled at her sister. “If we have to do something, its best we try something together.”

“Right.” Andri agreed. “Gotta go to class now, I’ll see you later!” she added as she ran out of the room, book bag clanging against her back.

Solomon Bensalem, Crotalus

August 01, 2012 7:14 PM
Solomon felt like he didn’t know much, being in this odd magical world. He missed home on the Isla Angel de la Guarda, but he also didn’t want to go home a failure. This concert, and that it was mandatory to do, worried the boy. Oh gods. he thought through the whole first half of the term. “I have no idea.” he said softly even as the signup sheets went up.

Others had signed up already and Solomon still wracked his mind for something to do. No singing, dancing, can’t juggle, don’t know enough about anything to do it in front of people… Maybe I can help with something backstage? he thought.

“I don’t know anything about lighting or building or sound, but maybe I can help on the night of the concert? Not like the Chief will come anyway…” he said softly, thinking nobody would have heard him. “Even if I did invite them they won’t come. There’s too much to do on the island.”

Taking a deep breath in he started, this time trying to be a little bit louder and more positive of himself, “Okay, backstage it is.” He steeled himself to add his name to the growing list. Its nothing. Almost like it’s a class. I have to do it. He said to himself. It was going to take convincing for him, but he had no choice.
