Seeking extras for the Concert by Regina Parker, Teppenpaw

MOVIE MAGIC IN THE MAKING!!!

Good Day Ladies and Gentlemen!

For the concert, the 4th year Teppenpaws are putting together movie and we are looking for lots of extras to help! If you need something to do for the wonderful Midsummer Event this year and don’t mind being on a screen for your family to see (and don’t mind wearing some awesome makeup or being near special effects blood) than you should totally sign up and join in the ZOMBIE MAKING MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously people, it’s going to be awesome. DON’T MISS OUT!! Sign your name and any specialties you may have that could help make this a masterpiece!

Zombies are a must!

Reggie wasn’t sure if the poster would scare some people away or not, but she was hoping the point was made. They needed Zombies to make this movie. Sure they were going to try to score those wicked cool dummies that had been in Charms last year, but those would only be the dead bodies that the zombies would be eating. She really wanted to make this movie work and the more people who were willing to be a part of it, the better. Her dad had even shown her some make up tips to help bring out the disgustingness of zombies. This just had to work!

Zombies to spare by Sullivan Quincy, Pecari

Sullivan had no idea what he was doing for the concert. This was a problem that had occasionally flitted through his mind since the return feast. It wasn't really a major concern yet; he still had plenty of time to procrastinate before it became time to panic and latch onto the first person with a semi-feasible idea and something for him to do. He'd already half-tried that with Clara at the feast, when the initial urge to pair up and have something ready was strongest, but he'd only known her for a couple hours and any plans made there were half-baked and non-binding.

Still, when he entered the Hall this morning and spotted a new notice posted, he stopped, read it over, and decided that maybe he didn't have to procrastinate or cling to a little first year girl for ideas. He supposed if Clara did end up needing him, he could still do it even if he did join this. Movies didn't require any effort on stage night; it would be done and wrapped up by then and they'd just be playing it back for everyone to see.

Seeing no downsides to it, and several upsides (including but not limited to (a) zombies, (b) concert participation without risking stage disasters, (c) zombies, (d) bragging rights for being in a movie even a school-made one, (e) zombies, (f) having a plan, and (g) zombies) Sully took out his pen and added his name to the list.

Topher had heard about the Concert at the feast held to welcome everyone back from midterm, and just as promptly placed it on a mental back burner in favor of trying to figure out if Pecari could beat Aladren again and then stepping up his private training schedule once Pecari failed him miserably and he knew that the cycle was about to start up again. It wasn’t as bad now, since Edmond wasn’t around to pose much more of a threat to Topher than Topher posed to the Aladren Seeker, but the best strategy still seemed to him to be getting as good as he possibly could and making a concentrated effort to batter Arnold out of the air as quickly as possible. What good it would do when another damned Carey was on stand-by, he didn’t know, but first year luck didn’t seem to extend to New Carey being better than his fellow Carey, so maybe it would work, or at least give Crotalus a better chance.

It was the year, and if it wasn’t, he was going to make it the year. Last year had been a bit of a vicarious thrill, but Topher didn’t think he could leave school feeling right if Crotalus didn’t beat Aladren in the finals at least once. Every time for the next three years would be better, but just once would do. Winning the Championship game at all would be fantastic, but he was sure it would ring a little hollow if it happened and it wasn’t against Aladren. Arnold was slowly morphing into his personal nemesis.

When he wasn’t thinking of the game or his classes, though, the Concert did creep in sometimes. The game was closer than the Concert, which he thought justified thinking about it a lot more, but it would be too late to join a group after the game, so Topher had made a mental note to at least look around sometime, lest every group forming end up with Careys in it and leave him with no choice but to put on a solo act and humiliate his parents. That definitely was not his goal for the year. Topher was very aware that his parents got to give him the Potential Speech a lot more than they got to brag on him, and this was a chance to reverse that. The problem was just he had no idea what to do, and no one else seemed to, either, which was unfortunate, because while Topher had his eye on Sam’s badge, he didn’t see himself as the kind to lead any other groups and couldn’t think of any special talents he had off the Pitch.

Some things, though, didn’t require much talent. Such as being a zombie. Shamble, make weird noises, eat brains; Topher admitted he would feel a bit weird doing any of that, but it wasn’t hard, not from a technical standpoint. And his mom would probably love it; she was a Muggle movie nut for some reason, always going to see the things. And it would be a nice little gesture-the-Gardiners-would-never-know-about toward the Gardiners; he could just imagine, in the first moment ever that he’d wished they attended the same school in, Caroline trying to explain that one to her friends. And, if all else failed, he could say he’d done it to impress a girl, because the Teppenpaw girls were all really pretty.

It was a good plan, he thought, one which covered a lot of, if not all, bases. He could get over it being to act like a zombie in front of other people. He scrawled his name down on the list, along with a note about being good at hitting things that the Teppenpaws could take seriously - he was a Beater - or as a joke about how he was a Beater. And there was one more thing checked off for the year.

Jorge had kept a low profile while being here at Sonora. It was a bit strange really. At home, Jorge would run around and make all sorts of ruckus that really upset his sisters and had his mother ripping out her own hair. That was amusing to him. He enjoyed making them scream. It was only natural for a brother and a son to do. Jorge’s accomplice was usually his cousin, Pedro, but Jorge didn’t see him much except for when the family went on vacation. With Tio Paco deciding to keep his children in Mexico for schooling, Jorge lost the chance to have his best mate go to Sonora with him. It was a sad year for Jorge because he really wanted Pedro to be at Sonora with him, but there was nothing that could be done about it.

Now Jorge just had to find something for him to do while at Sonora. He couldn’t just sit around anymore and do nothing. Dulce was getting on his case too. All he has been doing is studying with her instead of having fun. It was boring. Dulce didn’t have any fun at all. Thankfully, the concert was happening this year and Jorge had to find something fun to do. If he didn’t, he think he’d go crazy.

He saw the poster about the movie. Jorge heard of movies before because of Dulce’s music teacher, but he didn’t really know what they were. But he did know what the ‘living dead’ was and he thought that it would be pretty cool to be able to play one… even if it was only as an extra. Besides… it gave him something to practice for the time being, anyway.

Marcus wasn’t really excited for the Concert. He didn’t really have any sort of skill that anyone would really care to see. He was good at Basketball and football but that was about all. He didn’t have tricks. He didn’t play instruments. He didn’t dance. He did nothing like that. He enjoyed watching his girlfriend dance. She was so cute and beautiful when she did it. Although, it seemed like something that she did less of. He wasn’t really sure why. He would have been more than happy to watch her or play basketball while she practiced. He figured dancing was what she would contribute to the Concert, but he had no intentions of doing something like that. Backstage work was more for him.

It sort of sucked though that the concert had to be this year. Although he would never tell anyone this, Marcus stayed up most nights studying. His days were filled with classes and Valentina, so the only free time he seemed to find was when most people were sleeping. He’d staying up as late as two in the morning studying and doing his homework. Sure he was tired most of the time, but he refused to let his mom down after all this time. He refused to let himself down after all this time. CATS were important here. Like SATs or ACTs or something. They determined the sort of classes he could take later. He didn’t know what he wanted to be after all this, but he was damn sure he wasn’t going to fail himself now.

He had seen the posters around and figured that this would probably be the best thing for him. He was a Muggleborn, so Zombies were nothing new to him and he could do stage set up or something. He didn’t think it would take too much time out of his schedule. Although, he could also be an extra zombie… his mother would get a hoot out of that when she came. She was so excited to see the people Marcus had been spending his time with. She had seen pictures of Valentina and some of his classmates, but nothing really beyond candid. This concert meant everything to her, so being somewhat in the movie might be good.

Marcus Williams, anything extra that you may need help with.

David was not sure why, but he remembered Reggie Parker. A guess said it was somewhere between how…interesting the lesson they had worked together in that time had been, and that it hadn’t hurt that she’d been weirder than he was, which was always assuring, somehow. He hadn’t thought about it much, but he did remember that class had been pretty good, all things considered, and it was too bad that magic dummies probably could not be used in movies, despite how much more realistic their gaping wounds looked than some of the CGI he’d been subjected to in the magical world.

Or maybe he was just remembering something now that a specific reminder of it was in front of him. That was possible, too. He did that a lot. He was, even with so many months of the year being spent at school, fully immune to getting odd looks from his mom in grocery stores because some dumb picture on a cereal box reminded him of this other thing and made him laugh for no apparent reason. Either way, though, he remembered that Charms lesson as he squinted, half-wondering if this was a joke, at the first sign-up sheet to appear for a Concert act.

It – probably – wasn’t an intentional joke, he decided. That would be more Pecari-style than Teppenpaw, and besides, what would be the point? “Oh, hey, dudes, there’s not really going to be an act. Got you good this time, didn’t I?” David knew that he was no expert on humor, Humor, the British-spelling variations of either, or anything remotely related to that, but it seemed a little…lamer than average. He had no idea if Reggie and company could pull this off, but he was pretty sure there was an honest attempt in the works, and even surer that he needed to be involved in some kind of act but that anything he came up with on his own or tried to lead a group in would be weird in the way that made the whole school give him a collective funny look and not get it. This was possibly doing that anyway, but with someone else (who didn’t have to convince the Aladren Qudiditch team there was a good reason not to go all Napoleon on him) at the helm, and he doubted the administration would come down half as hard on those who tried something that failed as those who dithered until the last moment between CATS and games and just not wanting to do stuff and came up with something completely lousy at the last possible moment….

…Not that David would ever do such a thing, of course. Slacking was Wrong. If he had been forced to come up with something else, he would have worked on it every day until the Concert, like a good little overachiever, not spent his evenings fiddling with music spells and gradually letting the reading of Star Wars novels edge out the attempted reading of War and Peace and figuring out how he accidentally blew those grapes up at lunch and contemplating whether or not Samantha Hamilton would think of various weird activities as dates if he theoretically brought them up in her presence and jumping around his dorm room playing Trashketball with those notes from two years ago he found in the bottom of his trunk and started out planning to study but then got bored with and loudly awarding himself points and commentating on his own game until he started thinking his roommate, suffering from impending CATS-itis too, might decide to plot his murder as a Potions exercise and…generally not being a good little overachiever.

It’d be best to just have the activity out of the way anyway, though, now that his life was shrinking to CATS and the need to win that Championship game and write his essay to get into camp this summer, and this looked like it had the potential to be a good show, anyway. So he signed up for it, figuring that at worst, he’d be a dead body lying on stage for fifteen seconds, and that if that happened, he’d still win because at least it wasn’t very time-consuming.

Mellie looked over the notice in the Cascade Hall with her lower lip held tightly between her teeth, caught between excitement and a feeling of trepidation.

She had been excited to hear about the Concert at the welcome-back feast, but she had only realized later that she did not have any notable talents, which was a…disadvantage, to put it mildly, when it came to this kind of thing. Her parents were used to her being mediocre, from her grades to, as far as she was concerned, her Quidditch performances, nothing like Alison (though admittedly, she thought her parents might not see that as such a bad thing since her cousin decided to go roaming the earth instead of enrolling in a college and getting her feet on the path to a good career; Dad had only expressed mild concern for her a few times, but Mellie had never been much deterred by her parents’ actual behavior when she was speculating about what they thought), but they weren’t used to being there to see it. They certainly acted like they didn’t much care, but….well, what if she was wrong? Weren’t parents who were successful supposed to want their kids to do even better?

This Concert act, which was being put together by a group she had always admired at a distance, looked like it could be a good solution to her problems. She would be doing something on stage, something her parents could see, but she wouldn’t really be doing anything, so to speak, not something that would require huge amounts of effort and skill on her part, not something that would make her have to think of something people would like to see. It was perfect….

…Except that she didn’t really know the fourth year Teppenpaws, and what if they didn’t want her involved in their project? Okay, so that was kind of lame, since it was an open call and they were probably not even aware enough of her existence to dislike it, but…what if? And what if (as unlikely as this seemed to her) someone in her year did want to work with her, but then she was in this? Then everyone was unhappy with something. But if she didn’t sign up, then it turned out that no one wanted her and there was no one left who’d just take her, then she’d be in for it, because Merlin knew she could not put on a decent act by herself….

You think too much about whether people like you, Mel, she imagined Alison saying. Her cousin had, to their surprise, dropped in over the summer, so Mellie thought she had the sound of her voice right in her head, and, after she’d confessed some of her school issues and gotten advice then, the tone of what she’d say down. Just go do something and don’t worry about it. She signed her name and year and added, after a moment of further hesitation, a cheerful whatever you need! afterward.

Aubrielle was excited to be doing the concert with Waverly and Clara. She thought they had an awesome idea and the eleven year old knew that it would be the most amazing thing in the world and that the others would all enjoy their song. Skipping one day into the hall for lunch, she saw a poster hanging up. A grin escaped her face as she smiled from ear to ear. “Niice!” she said happily as she pulled at her backpack to get a quill out.

Unfortunately as she did that, her whole bag broke right off her shoulder. With a scowl on her face, she dropped the strap that still clung to her shoulder and pulled out the quill. “I can do two things at this concert. I’m a performer, I’ve done more than two things in a show before.” she said, taking what happened to her backpack in stride. It’s just a bag, I can either try to fix it myself or ask someone else for help. Or, if it can’t be fixed, I can ask Mom for another one… Maybe…? she thought to herself.

Her smile grew larger once more when she saw Addi’s name upon the list. “Good. Maybe she’s really coming out of her shell-” she started as she saw the scribbled out words and bent in closer to try to read them. Her smile turned upside down at what she read, but she shrugged her shoulders and added her name to the list: Aubrielle Thornton, anything you need where I CAN be seen! Taking pride in the fact that she was now signed up to do two things, she moved on to the Teppenpaw table to eat.

Addison, one morning walked into Cascade Hall and saw a note pinned up. She knew the handwriting on it to be of her roommate, and hopefully friend, Reggie Parker. She also knew that she had to participate in this concert thing, whether she liked it or not. And Addison surely didn’t like it. Addi had hoped that she’d find someone who may let her work with them on something she didn’t have to be seen doing. But she feared (almost more than asking if she could join someone else) the refusal. Her heart pounded as she saw the names on the list at the bottom of the poster.

It wasn’t just Teppenpaws on the list…

Does that mean I’ll have to actually work with people, instead of hiding by myself doing something backstage that nobody else would see? she asked herself. Her brain responded by the deeper pounding of her heart as her eyes threatened to release tears she didn’t want.

Oh no… Oh no… Pound. Oh no… Oh no… Pound again.

Her eyes flew around her and her teeth bit down on her bottom lip as her right hand tensed, holding her quill. I have to… I may not have any other chances to do anything without being seen… And Hope, Reggie and the other Teppenpaws may be able to keep me in control… Hopefully… she said as she closed her eyes. Addi only opened them long enough to help her writing utensil find the bottom of the list and add her own name: Addison Thornton, anything backstage without being seen…

She made a mental note in her head to go talk to Reggie about it, and if she had to, beg her roommate to let her do something where she didn’t have to be seen. But… then she’ll know I’m a scaredy cat… She crossed off the part, without being seen and turned away, hoping that Reggie would know how her roommate felt on that aspect.
