Her first year as Headmistress hadn’t gone as smoothly as she had liked. Then again, Kiva doubted that there would ever be a true year where everything went as according to plan. Thus far, she found herself wondering if she already had to replace two of her staff members. Both Kerry and Increase had been on leave and the way things were going, there was a chance that they would not be returning. As hard as it was to find a job and keep it in this economy, it seemed to be more difficult for Sonora to keep their staff.
On top of that, Erika was going out on maternity leave. Not that Kiva could really hold anything against her. Nine years ago, she had also left to give birth to her son, Emery. Of course, everything had been so different back then, but it was what it was. Erika and her wife were starting a family of their own. She was going to need help with the Pecari House, now and after the baby is born because she would only be working nine to five like Kiva was. So, that was where the new Substitute came in. Like John had first started as Kiva’s substitute, Kiva had been looking to hire someone to fill this role. Thankfully, she had been able to find someone perfectly suited, Kailith Callaghan. Not only would she take over Erika’s duties for the time being, but next year, she would help fill any spots in lessons when one of the staff members fell ill or had a personal issue to deal with. It was a relief for Kiva to have her on board.
Kiva sat in her office waiting to greet the newest staff member and to explain the ropes of the school. From what Kiva obtained, Kailith was a young mother, but had plenty of teaching experience. This was good and it gave Kiva faith in the woman. The less Kiva had to think about when it came to the school the closer they got to the summer, the better. Kiva was getting non stop owls from her mother and Jeff regarding the wedding. She really wished they had just eloped when he had first proposed back on Easter, but Chloe and Kiva’s mother wanted something to celebrate, so a small wedding had been planned (or in the process of being planned) just to make the two girls happy.
Lost in thought as she looked over her last letter, Kiva jumped when the wall of her office had a knock. Feeling rather foolish and happy that no one was there to see her, Kiva calmed herself down and stood up to greet her guest. “Please come in.”
OOC: Just a note, the Headmistress’s office is at the end of the Hall of Plants. It ends at a wall, which is the door. The staff knows that there is a vine that you pull to open it, otherwise ‘Tony’ the talking plant opens it for you. He’s like the secretary.

Kailith walked briskly down the hall, forcing herself not to break into a run. She had made a few wrong turns before finally running into someone to give her proper directions to the Headmistress' office. She did not want to be late and give the wrong impression.
Oddly, she wasn't nervous like she thought she would be. This would be Kailith's third teaching position, and she supposed the routine was beginning to seem normal. Madalynn barely even threw a tantrum when Kailith announced they were moving yet again. It seems her daughter had inherited Kailith's taste for travel and adventure.
She finally arrived down what seemed to be the correct hallway. There were plants literally everywhere. As a former Herbology teacher and plant enthusiast, Kailith instantly knew she would like the Headmistress. She reached the end of the hall, and found herself facing a wall.
She was used to these sort of magical mysteries, and stood looking over the wall trying to find what could possibly cause it to open. She jumped when she heard a voice coming from beside her. "You must be Professor Callaghan. Cutting it a little close aren't you?"
Kailith looked around and smiled when she saw the voice came from a talking plant. "I am good sir, so perhaps you could be a gem and tell me how I can get in so as to not be any later." She hoped he wasn't a mouthy plant, she had her fair share of those over the years.
"My name is Tony miss, and you see that vine there kind of off to itself? Pulling that will allow you to enter. Hurry along now, and welcome to Sonora!" Kailith beamed at him and murmured her thanks before knocking on the wall. She heard the Headmistress beckon her to come in, and gave the vine a firm tug.
She walked into the Headmistress' office and looked around curiously. She liked the woman's taste, thats for sure. "Good morning Headmistress Kijewski. I'm honored to have been chosen to be a part of your fine Academy."
