Archery Meeting: Truth or Shoot. by Aiden O'Neil

Aiden felt that Archery was moving along quite nicely. They had only had a handful of meetings, the first being the introductions and teaching any new club members how to hold their bows, string the arrow, and aim, and the couple that followed was going through those motions all over again. Those that had been long time members were free to do as they pleased either with just themselves or their friends, but Aiden kept a close watch on the newest members just to be safe. He had grown rather fond of working with Lena on this club of theirs and he didn’t want to risk anyone losing an eye (even if the arrows being charmed to prevent that) and therefore the club being shut down.

Today, however, Aiden wanted to do things a little differently just to have a change of pace. He liked it when they were able to just play some games while they were working on their archery. Since most of the time they worked only with one another, having people do games was a way for them to meet new people and work with new faces. He didn’t necessarily like it very much in class, but since everyone was here to learn Archery and have fun, he didn’t see the harm in it.

“So, today I wanted to play a little bit of a game just to mix things up for everyone.” Aiden announced as everyone gathered that Thursday evening after dinner. “I feel like last terms game really went well, so I wanted to keep that sort of thing going every once in awhile. Break the monotony of things from time to time.” He explained, smiling happily at everyone. “I want everyone to pair up with someone that they don’t know or haven’t really had the chance to know. Once you have a partner, you will each take aim at your target and the one to hit the target closest to the bullseye gets to ask the other person a question. It can be anything you want to ask - either about your partner or about something else, you decide. It’s up to your partner to decide if they want to tell the truth or lie.” Aiden didn’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable with sharing anything too personal, so he wanted them to know that they had options.

“Everyone go ahead and pair up. Be kind to your partners, so don’t ask anything that you wouldn’t want to respond to.” He added quickly so that some people didn’t take too much advantage of this game. “Also, if anyone wants, I am available to be partners with.”

OOC: Feel free to reply to this one or even use the FnF over the weekend to do some fast paced quick responses to this meeting/game! It’s also up to the shooters to determine their accuracy of their shot, but please be fair and realistic to your character’s ability.

Abigail De La Garza

Please don't shoot me down. by Abigail De La Garza

Abby had started her fourth year at Sonora with a good feeling and it still hadn’t faded. The summer break had certainly been a lot lot better than the midterm break before that. Not only had she finally gone and admitted to her mother that she didn’t want to be a dancer, and that she knew she never could even if she did, but she’d also revealed her love for archery. Her father had been particularly supportive, even though she’d feared he wouldn’t understand why she rated a bow and arrow over a broomstick, and had even arranged for her to receive private tutoring over the holidays.

Not only that but her… “problem” had been recognised by her parents and thus identified and as a result she was feeling so much better in herself. She’d lost so much of what her mother had always insisted was “puppy fat” and whilst her body was probably far from what others viewed as desirable, she felt almost okay with it and that was a huge confidence boost for her.

Archery Club was brilliant and she had Aiden to thank for that, Aiden who seemed to get better looking each year. Abby just liked to have a group of people to practise her hobby with and it was nice to sometimes have a competitive side of her brought out, something she didn’t get to see all that much.

Today they were playing a game and although Abby didn’t agree that archery could get “monotonous” she was instantly excited. She wasn’t quite so sure when the game was explained but knew that the point of it wasn’t to find out people’s deepest darkest secrets or anything like that so she ignored any negative thoughts that threatened to cast a dark shadow over her favourite part of the week.

Abby didn’t know what made her do it but as she glanced around the room for someone she didn’t know particularly well, as the game required, her brain only located one person when in fact she had plenty of other options. “Hey,” she smiled as she approached none other than Aiden himself. “Would you care to pair up with me?”

In all fairness, the worst that could happen was that Aiden would say no (which was unlikely given his friendly nature) and she’d have to pick someone else but for some reason, there were definitely butterflies in her stomach.

Wouldn't think of it by Aiden

Aiden was watching everyone pair off to play the game together and hadn’t realized that Abigail De La Garza had approached him until she greeted him. Aiden gave her his usual smile, “Hey Abby!” He greeted in return. He didn’t really know much about the younger girl other than she was a Teppenpaw like him, a fourth year, and had a love for archery just like him. They had more in common than he initially thought, but that was the fun of it, wasn’t it?

“I would love to pair up with you!” Aiden replied. He thought about pairing up with Savannah or with Lena because they were easily the people he was most comfortable with but also wanted to get to know more of, but he didn’t think that was necessarily fair since he wanted everyone else to work with people they might not know all that well. Abby fit that description for him, so it was only right that he agreed to partner with her. He wasn’t sure what really went on in the life of a fourteen/fifteen year old girl, but maybe he’ll find some more things in common with her. Or, at the very least, he’ll get to know another member of his club somewhat well.

“I’ll let you go first.” Aiden said politely. His mother said manners were what mattered most while in the presence of a female. He thought he was doing a pretty good job of being a gentlemen around Savannah (although sometimes that could be quite difficult depending on how they were occupying themselves) and her opinion of him mattered most, but he was still a Teppenpaw at heart so kindness and politeness just ran through his veins.

There were quite a few members of the club, so it was hard for him to keep up with who shot well and who didn’t. He hoped that Abby was decent enough for the board, but he was a little nervous that she would hit it well enough for a question. Aiden had no idea what she would ask him. He was pretty boring all things considered. Of course, what question would he ask her if he shot better? Why had he thought this game would be a good idea? He had been crazy thinking it. Then again, he didn’t actually expect anyone to approach to be his partner so he hadn’t really prepared himself for such a situation.
