A Talsky Christmas! by Talsky Brothers

Dmitry may not have any real liking of his half-brother but during the Holidays he did want family around. At Durmstrang during the holidays he was surrounded by cousins, here at Sonora he was stuck seeking out Dorian. With an armful of gifts he waltzed into Cascade Hall and immediately saw his brother. He walked over and dumped his arm load of gifts on the table, compared to Dorian who had neatly stacked his gifts to the side.

The two were as different as night and day. Dmitry was a thin, tall and pale, and had a dark coloring. He had been born and raised in Russia, without as much doting as Dorian had. He loved to look his best even on Christmas morning he was wearing designer jeans, a tucked in red dress shirt and another tie with the Talsky crest. Dorian on the other hand was a short and pudgy boy, with a light coloring. He had been born and raised in England with a doting mother always at his beck and call. He rarely dressed well unless his father insisted upon it. Today Dorian was wearing a t-shirt with some random muggle band on it and a pair of worn out jeans.

“Good morning Blini!” Dmitry said in his thick Russian accent causing Dorian to scowl. Blini was a Russian pancake that the Talskys had eaten every Christmas morning since Dmitry could remember, though the nickname for Dorian had not come about till he was five years old and had eaten a whole platters of Blinis himself. “Good morning Dmitry.” Dorian said as he picked up a cup of tea.

“S Rozhdestvom Khristovym!” He cried as he reached over and pinched Dorian’s cheek. “Be happy little brother it’s Christmas!” The elder was trying to be nice but Dorian was such a stick in the mud it almost made him sad.

“Happy Christmas Dmitry, shall we eat breakfast first or open gifts?” Dorian asked with a smile. It wasn’t often his brother treated him humanly and he figured it was only because their father had stuck them in this school until summer break came.

Dmitry thought it over for a moment. “Gifts first breakfast second.” With that he nodded and two brothers began to tear open their gifts. There were a dozen at least for each. A new outfit, new potion kits (like that was a present), a new wizarding chess set, and other various items. It was a good take as always but the same type of gifts.

“Well I guess that was a good take of gifts this year.” Dmitry said with a smile. “What do you think blini?”

“It was alright.” He said with a smile. “I got you something though.” Dmitry looked surprised but then sighed. Dorian had always set the best gift something that his father and step-mother would never get. He was selfish and had not gotten his own brother something year and year, even this year that he could see the little boys down trodden face. Dorian pushed the long gift box across the table.

Dmitry sighed and grabbed the box. He carefully unwrapped it slowly. He lifted the lid and inside saw the thick sliver chain. A pendent hanging from it was the Talsky crest, and engraved around it was the Talsky motto. Fidelis usque ad mortem “Faithful even to death..” Dmitry murmured. He looked up at his brother and sighed. “You little brother are very smart, this will be my favorite till death.” He said with a smile.

“Let’s eat!” Dorian said and a few items appeared in front of him. “Fresh blinis yum!” He cried. Dmitry sighed. “Don’t you expect a gift from me?” He asked with a raised eyebrow.

“No I use to wait for one every year, I would think it’ll come in a day, it’ll come in a week, he’ll give me it when he comes home for summer break. A gift would never come so I gave up. It’s not a huge deal.” Dorian said with a smile and then dug into his Blinis. Dmitry sighed and shook his head. He had never felt like a bigger jerk then he did now. “Come on you brat dig in or it’s not Christmas!” Dorian cried. Dmitry chuckled and grabbed for the blinis, maybe he could learn to be more like Dorian, just maybe.
