Making things complicated (Tag: Pippa) by Juri Dahlgren

The entire idea of a ball was frustrating to say the least. Juri didn’t like the idea of having to go to some event, having to dress up as some historical character, and then on top of it having to dance. He also didn’t like how it made some of the girls all giggly and the like, but then, some always seemed to be that way, only more so. He really didn’t see what all the fuss was about and he really would have preferred to skip it altogether. Of course, that presented problems of it’s own such as possibly being classified as something he wasn’t. He didn’t want to be classified as some loser who couldn’t get a date or whatever.

And there were worse things too. Like Lita. Juri didn’t want to go to the dance with her, but he didn’t want any other boy to either. It was hard to explain and he wasn’t sure he could even if he tried, but just something about the idea of her with someone else really bugged him, especially if it were Daniel Nash II. Sure, he had seen him frequently with Charlotte, but that didn’t necessarily mean anything. For all he knew, Charlotte could have just been trying to find out if Danny like liked Lita. Girls back home seemed to like to do things like that. He chewed at the side of his mouth trying to rid himself of the thought since that meant that Lita liked Danny. Not that he cared. Why should he? She was just a girl.

Fine. If she had a date, then he could get one too. It wasn’t like she was the only good looking girl in the school even if she were awfully cute. He gazed around the room until his eyes finally settled on one. A blonde. That was certainly different from the brunette. Okay, he could do this. Quickly, he ran his hands through his longish blonde hair, smoothing down any flyaways before marching up to where the girl was. He pointed to the seat across from her. “Is this seat taken?” Without waiting for an answer, he plopped down into it. “So, uh, Pippa,” he thought that was her name. “Do you want to go to the ball with me?”

Pippa Brockert

Seems simple enough to me. by Pippa Brockert

Pippa sat at a table in the hall, with her beading kit spread out in front of her, making a bracelet. The piece she was working on had an old-fashioned antique look to it. There was a big school ball coming up and if she went, maybe she could make some jewelery to wear.

She didn't have much other jewlery. There was some at home that was supposed to be hers when she was older but she couldn't have that until she was formally betrothed or of age. Plus, Pippa would hate to have it at school and chance any of it getting lost or stolen as they were valuble family heirlooms.

Pippa wondered if anyone would ask her. She somehow doubted it, as there were so few guys and so many girls who were prettier and more popular than Pippa was. She rarely even talked to most of her classmates aside from Nathaniel.

It was even unlikely that some guy looking for a "proper pureblood date" would ask her, as none of the guys in her class were purebloods, aside from Quentin, who was her cousin . Not that Pippa especially cared about having a pureblood date.

Maybe Nathaniel would ask her, or at the very least they could hang out together and dance there.

That's when Juri, an Aladren boy that Pippa had never spoken to and didn't know much about, came up and sat next to her.

“Do you want to go to the ball with me?”

Pippa's eyes widened and a smile spread across her face. She'd just been sitting here, thinking about how unlikely this was to happen. "Sure. Um, I'd love to." She responded, blushing.
