Gifts for Adam by Nicoletta

Nicoletta waited anxiously at the entrance to the Hall. Earlier that day, she had been skating with Adam at the Quidditch pitch turned ice skating rink. Her cheeks were still pinkish from the cold weather, but the experience had been a refreshing one. Though, it had been awkward, it had been a good experience being able to spend time with him in a platonic way regardless of the less than platonic thoughts.

After they had parted, she had gone back to her dorm room. She had mentioned having bought him a present. Actually, she had purchased two, which had been sitting on her desk. Glancing at her new bracelet, she had decided to give them to him as soon as possible. Perhaps, before dinner. With this, she had quickly run a brush through her mess of a mane and applied a little lip gloss. Even though, they were just friends, she still wanted to look her best. Finished, she had grabbed the gifts and headed towards the hall.

Here, she paced, the two gifts wrapped in a green foil paper and bound by red ribbon in her hands. It felt like she had a stomach full of rocks as she anxiously waited for him, hoping he would be going to dinner. When she saw him, she breathed a sigh of relief. Tentatively, she approached him. “Hi,” she said. She held out the gifts. “Merry Christmas.”

I always like a gift or two. by Adam

Ice skating had been fun once the two of them had gotten past the awkwardness of being alone together. They even managed to hold off a fight or two (not that there had been any tense moments where a fight was possible... though, with the two of them, it was hard to tell). All in all, it had been a rather pleasant time and by the end of it, Adam could even keep himself up on his skates and actually enjoy himself for the time being.

He would have to remember to not tell his mom about it though. She would get anxious knowing he had been outside in the cold for a prolonged time and had been mostly laying down on the ice after having a fall. She would make him feel guilty for having fun when all he wanted to do was remember the time he'd spent with Nicoletta. As short lived as it had been.

He had gone back to the commonroom (via Connell's office) and changed into some warm clothes. He was tired, it had been a long day, but he knew he needed to eat something. So after he had warmed up, he left the Pecari commonroom and wandered the halls until he came upon Cascade Hall. He would have normally just gone off to a secluded table and had himself a meal, but movement caught his eye and he turned to find Nicoletta coming his way.

Adam waited for her to catch up with him. He glanced down in semi-surprise at the gifts, but took them from her. "Er-thanks, Merry Christmas." He pondered opening them there, but thought better of it. Instead, he tilted his head at Nicoletta, "You want to go sit down and eat with me?"

Then, you're in luck by Nic

Nicoletta's face fell slightly when he didn't open the gifts, but brightened immediately when he asked her to come eat with him. “Sure,” she replied before following him to an empty table. She bit her lip slightly, as she glanced around. It was rather sparse since most people had gone home for the holidays. She wondered what her family was doing right now. They were probably getting ready for the annual holiday party.

It was strange to think about. She had missed it last year due to a change of plans on her parents' part, but hadn't thought she would never go again. She gave a small sigh before her blue eyes shifted to Adam. Was it worth it? Flashes of his arms around her, kisses shared. Yes, it was. She wanted that instead of the flippant remarks shared between those of forced marriages.

Realizing that he may think that she was sighing at having to be here with him since the only time they had been together in the hall was under the pretense of tutoring. “Sorry, I was just thinking about my family.” Brushing a piece of hair back, she ordered a hot chocolate. Taking a sip, she changed the subject, “So, how has your holiday been so far?” They hadn't had much of a chance to talk outside and she was curious to know what was new with him, aside from Dalila. She felt that was a touchy subject.

The other thing she wanted was for him to open her gifts. Her eyes darted to them. She was excited and worried at the same time. She wanted to see what he thought. Inside the smaller package was a deluxe set of quills, containing various colors. Each were self-inking and guaranteed not to smudge. In the larger package was a forest green scarf. On the end, she had painstaking embroidered his initials herself in a gold colored thread.

Lucky me. by Adam

Adam sat and thought about what sort of food he would like to eat. He could always go with his favorite, which was pizza. But it was the holidays, so perhaps ham or chicken would be better? Then again, if there was to be a feast... that food would be there and not the pizza. Eventually, he decided on the pizza.

It was during his thought process on food that Nicoletta spoke. He glanced up at her. He'd nearly forgotten that she could no longer see them. Or, would soon be officially disowned from the family. He didn't really know which it was yet as the last time they spoke it had been rather heated and ended with him telling her about his secret. He didn't really want to bring up any of that and ruin the good mood the two of them were in now.

He shrugged at the question. Last year, his holiday had been wonderful. And that, in large part, had everything to do with Nicoletta. "It's alright. Sort of dull with everyone gone. Mom's been owling me loads... as usual." Adam gave Nicoletta a half grin, hoping that she didn't mind the fact that he mentioned his mother. "How's yours?" Stupid question, but it seemed like an automatic reflex to ask.

Glancing down, Adam realized he had left the gifts unopened. Putting his half eaten pizza down, he picked up the smaller gift first. Tentively, he opened it to discover a box of quills. They were lovely quills, not something Adam would have expected as a gift, but he liked them all the same. The second gift, he knew had taken more thought. The scarf was his favorite color and almost immediately against the green he could see his initials in gold.

"Wow, these are amazing. Thanks, Princess."
