Who knew Dreams were Unreachable? by Tally Adams

Tally sat at an empty table with large books surrounding her. Her lunch was untouched and not likely to be touched with how involved she currently was on the homework she was doing. Potions, Care of Magical Creatures, Transfiguration, Charms...it was never ending and Tally felt overwhelmed with it all. She had always prided herself for being above average in intelligence, but perhaps she had been fooling herself. Studying and homework seemed impossible for her to and if she didn't get exellent marks on her exams, she would never be able to get into Healing School.

And all of this would have been for nothing.

Her brown waves were pulled back in a loose ponytail at the nap of her neck. There were bunchs of strands loose around her head as though she had run her hand through her hand at odd intervals. Her normally peachy skin was slightly pale and dark circles decorated her eyes. Tally looked as though she were on the brink of tears. She was frustrated and tired and she couldn't do this anymore. Why did she want to be a Healer anyway? Her mother was dead, the woman would never know. Her dad didn't care, he thought she was a complete failure anyhow, might as well make it true.

With a loud snap, Tally's pencil broke in the palm of her hand. She stared at it for a moment, jaw clenched before she finally threw the broken pencil away from her in disgust and dropped her head onto the table, doing all she could not to cry.

She remained like that until she heard someone sit down beside her. Lifting her head slightly and looked over at the newcomer, "What?" she asked in a slightly agitated voice.

Are you okay? by Camren Christianson

Camren hadn't really met anyone at Sonora yet, she missed Kat and Anna more than ever... Camren was lonely, just wanted a friend...

Camren's stomach rumbled, which reminded her that it was time to eat. Sighing, Camren walked out of her dorm and walked down to the Hall. When Camren got there she looked around Cascade Hall for any empty space for her to sit, and only saw one spot. There was a table with one girl sitting there surrounded by books. She looked like an older student. Camren wondered if she should bother going over there... Would the girl talk to her anyway? Besides, the girl looked busy, just like the girl in the common room...

Camren watched as the girl threw her broken pencil away from her and dropped her head onto the table. Camren's instinct to care for Caden jumped into her head, and the adrenaline rush carried her the rest of the way to the girl. "Is this spot open?" Camren asked as the girl lifted her head and looked at Camren.

"What?"

"I don't want to interrupt you, but I wanted to make sure you were okay..." Camren said as her stomach rumbled loudly. "Sorry..." Camren said apologetically for her stomach. Camren was still hungry, but that wasn't the most important thing anymore. The important thing to Camren was making sure the girl was okay... And maybe finding a friend...

Do you really care? by Tally

Tally found herself looking at a girl she had never seen before. Most likely a first year. Tally really hoped this girl wasn't looking for any help. If she were, Tally would simply say she wasn't a Prefect and to go bother someone else. She was in no mood to deal with little girls.

Tally quirked an eyebrow at the girl's response. She wanted to know if Tally was alright...No Tally was not alright. Everything was wrong! The exams were in a couple of months and Tally was on overload. She had been dealing with so much since midterm that she felt like she would explode at any minute!

Of course, she didn't say any of this to this girl. It was none of her concern anyway and Tally didn't want to have to deal with some eleven year old trying to be her best friend. Tally sighed as the girl's stomach grumbled. Looking around, there didn't seem to be very many open seats. Tally shifted some of her books so that the girl could have some room of her own. "Thanks, but I'm fine, just mad at my pencil for breaking. You can sit if you want."

Yes, I really do... by Camren

Camren watched the girl, worry putting small wrinkles in her forehead. Camren hated seeing other people upset, she always took care of people, it didn't matter who they were... She even took care of her father when he was sprawled out on the ground after one of his drinking episodes. She didn't know why she did after what he did to her, but she felt it was the right thing to do. That was all Camren wanted, to do the right thing for others... That was what she was doing for this girl, she just hoped that she hadn't made a mistake by walking over there...

The other girl looked like she wanted to say something, but didn't. Camren wondered why, and if maybe this girl would be a friend... Then Camren looked at the books that were sprawled out on the table. This girl was at least a fourth year by the looks of it... She wouldn't want to be friends with a first year... Camren sighed as her stomach grumbled loudly. Camren apologized and the girl sighed and looked around the room. Camren felt awful... She shouldn't have come over here, and it was then that she knew it... The girl shifted some of her books and spoke.

"Thanks, but I'm fine, just mad at my pencil for breaking. You can sit if you want."

"Are you sure?" Camren asked, "Cause I don't wanna bother you or anything..." Camren bit her lip and rocked a little on the balls of her feet. She didn't think this girl liked her all of a sudden... What if she was making an enemy already? She hadn't even been there long enough to make a real friend yet...

"You look busy... I can find another place to sit if you don't wanna sit with a little first year..." Camren said, growing more uncomfortable being new in the middle of the year than she had before. 'Boy do I miss my friends...' Camren thought to herself as she waited for the other girl's response.

'Oh! I didn't even introduce myself! What a DOOFUS I am!' Camren thought to herself, biting her lip harder, causing a slight salty taste from the blood that oozed a little from her lip. "I'm Camren Christianson... New Transfer First Year..." She said softly. She wasn't even sure if the other girl had heard her...
