Virginia Bellrose

Ginny had delayed for awhile on whether or not she could handle the Dance Club this year. After falling into a bad situation last year that could have potentially ruined her permanently in both a mental capacity as well as a physical capacity, her Nutritionist, Dance teacher, and parents wanted her to take things slowly and only take on what she could truly handle. She didn’t blame them for wanting this of her. She had been terrified of how she was handling things herself by the time she had gone home. She had felt disjointed and blurred. She had been weak and unfocused. It had taken a lot of her to get back on track and regain a sense of herself.

However, she was also aware that the best medicine for her was dancing. She felt she was truly herself when she was dancing. It was what she loved and the only thing that seemed to love her back. Her feelings for dance was what helped her solidify her thoughts regarding the club. She didn’t expect there to be as many people as last year since the ball was over, but she hoped for some interested parties as there had been the years prior.

Ginny had put up notices at the beginning of the week regarding the first club meeting of the year was set for that Saturday. She was hoping to see many new faces and some familiar ones too. The point of the club was to share a common bond with dance and that all dance styles were welcomed to join.

Now that it was Saturday, Ginny was nervous that no one would show. She had done a poor job of being a Hostess last year because of everything that had happened and with it being her CATS year. This year, she planned to do better. Not only for the people in the club, but for herself too. She needed to know that she could do this. She needed to make sure she was strong. It was an unbelievably difficult summer of self reflection and healing and she knew that it was something she could never truly get her friends to understand, so she needed to stand on her own two feet. Doing what she loved to do and sharing it with others would be the start of that.

“Hello Everyone! Thank you for coming.” Ginny greeted once she was sure those who were going to show had showed. “For anyone who is new, My name is Virginia Bellrose,” Those who were Canadian Purebloods may have recognized her name. “Ginny would be fine though. My background is Ballet, Ballroom, Contemporary, and Tap. This club is for everyone and anyone who enjoys dancing, whether it’s performing or watching it or anything in between. Like in years past, We’ll be doing various types of dancing or just dance parties to celebrate the different styles, techniques, and general fun of it all.” Ginny explained, feeling relaxed and genuinely happy. “Does anyone have any questions, concerns, or ideas for the club?” She asked the group.

Anna Clarissa had, in the past, belonged to exactly two extracurricular activities, neither one of which she had much of a choice in picking: community soccer and community swimming. She didn't dislike either one of them but she'd always been pretty up front that the best part of soccer was going to Dairy Queen with her teammates after practice sometimes, and the best part of swimming was the spirit days when they tie-dyed t-shirts and ate pancakes together instead of doing a typical morning practice. She also liked playing with the younger kids, and since she was going to be old enough to be a junior coach next year the first year Pecari planned on sticking it out and hoping she got picked.

But here at Sonora, there were so many extracurriculars to choose from and she was the only one doing the choosing! Which had resulted, of course, in the energetic girl choosing all of the ones that looked any degree of interesting. Which meant all of the ones that kept her up and moving.

So far that had meant she was a reserve on the Quidditch team which was pretty darn nifty as far as she was concerned. And then she'd seen a poster for dance club (and shortly thereafter, a poster for book club) and had been very excited at the possibility of learning to dance. Anna Clarissa didn't want to do dances like the Russian Ballet did when her dad left PBS on sometimes, but there were other types of dancing that looked pretty fun. Like swing dancing, or even those super complicated ones that involved a lot of twirling. The curly-haired Pecari could get behind that sort of thing.

There was an older girl running the club. Anna Clarissa tilted her head a little bit and focused her hazel eyes on the girl, who introduced herself as Virginia Bellrose (but Ginny was fine). Anna Clarissa thought that Virginia was a pretty name but Ginny was a pretty solid nickname if you were into that sort of thing. She also thought Ginny was very pretty and probably very nice, if she was going to have an entire club for people to just like dancing a lot.

Anna Clarissa considered raising her hand and asking if she could learn how to dance here, but decided that "there will be dance parties" probably covered the answer to her question. Hm. Dance parties.

Dance parties sounded fun.
