Confused Fish by Violet Springs

Violet Springs felt like a fish out of water. She didn't know where to go and who to talk to. She was lost and considering the fact that she didn't know anybody, she was going to be lost for a fair amount of time. She was confused as to why everybody was a different shade of color. Yellow, Red? This was too much for her.

She quickly decided that she was just going to skip the meal and just go out for a walk somewhere. But as she went towards the doors she suddenly stopped. She realised that not matter where she went she would be lost. While she was having a mental battle she didn't realise that she bumped into someone.

"Ooof!" she yelped in surprise. "I'm so sorry keeping her head down covering her face with her hair." \n\n

Late as usual! by Eduard Grimaud

'Thats ok,' Eduard Grimaud replied, although the girls he was used to normally carried themselves with more poise. 'Just watch where you're going.'

He began picking up his books. He had been hurrying through the corridor in order to make the first dinner when a girl had come out of nowhere and run into him. He couldn't believe he was running late on his first day. Grim had spent too much time pondering his Broom magazines and not enough time looking at the clock.

He wondered who he had run into. Her face was covered by her hair.

'Um..I'm Grim. Aren't you eating?' he asked. 'Or is it already over?'

What is firsties doing here? by Scurry the slightly demoted Prairie Elf

It was a terrible thing, the events of last year. Worse still to discover that much of it had been his own fault. Scurry had kept his head down during the holidays, sad and upset with himself for letting Master Paul Simon down so badly. He had worked hard - let none say that Scurry shirked his workload! - but he hadn't been as eager to bring Master Paul Simon's attention to what he had done. It had been more like... work of redemption. Work to prove to himself, before anyone else, that he was still a good Prairie elf.

But even as he wandered the halls on the day the students returned to the school for the new year, avoiding returning to the kitchen to report to Grandmother Tuppy (the other half of his misery), he came across what looked like two lost first years.

"Hello?" he said, walking up the them and feeling slightly confused. "What is first years doing outside the hall at this time? You is supposed to be being sorted into your houses! Quickly, quickly," he grabbed each by the arm and used the surprising strength that most prairie elves had to pull them along with him. "Professor Bulla will be most upset if you miss your sorting! They cannot do it every day you must be knowing. There is preparations that must be being made!"

He pulled them to the door to the Cascade Hall and let go.

"Quickly, quickly," he repeated. "You must be going through there and taking a drink with the other firsties."

Barged by a house elf. Huh! by Eduard Grimaud

Eduard looked at the miserable house elf as he was barged into Cascade hall. He'd never been treated with such disrespect at the embassy despite his obnoxious behaviour.
'It's time for a change Eduard. You can leave the jokes behind and become serious. Lycee affects your life!' his mother would say, in her tight French accent. The last weeks of his holidays had been spent in his room as punishment.

The last people were changing colour from the sorting. He'd heard of this potion. One half of him wanted to use it to play tricks on his fellow students. The other half remembered what had happened the last time he had played a joke, and the serious international consequences that followed.

He rolled his eyes at the girl who he had run into in the hall as he swilled the potion. His hand turned brown, then back to its normal olive colour. He scratched his black hair, right at the spot where his unusual blonde streak stood out. Coming from a priveledged life, it was all a bit of a non event. He saw the last brown person sitting down at a table and decided that he may as well join them.

'Later,' Grim said to the girl. As he sat down, he realised that he didn't even know her name.
