Cassius was essentially unfazed when he found out he would be the only first year boy in his House. In all probability, that meant he’d have his own room throughout his time at school. Which was nothing new- he was used to being alone. The privacy would be lovely for adjusting to new surroundings and his sudden lack of parental company, considering his Head of House was definitely not about to be his new dad. And of course, he would be able to keep whatever sleeping hours he felt were appropriate, since he wouldn’t have to worry about keeping anyone else up. The potential for mean roommates was also no longer an issue; no roomies were good roomies right?On the other hand, having roommates would have guaranteed human interaction. Without anyone living with him, Cass didn’t know if anyone would bother to go out of their way to get to know him. And as much as he hated to admit it, Cass was kind of excited to have someone to grow up the rest of the way with, at least while at school. Not having any siblings at home, the slightly blue tinged eleven year old had been used to being the only kid around and was essentially over it.
Great, Cass thought, flopping himself down onto one of the softer looking couches in what was promised to be his new home. Just great. He pulled one of the pillows from further down the couch over to himself and hug it tight to his chest, attempting to pull his knees up behind it and make himself as small as possible. His thin frame made the folding motion pretty easy, but his long legs betrayed him as his feet remained hanging limply out from under the bottom of the pillow. Cassius sighed heavily and leaned his head against the back of the couch with his eyes closed for a second, and was surprised to find a pair of eyes that seemed to be staring straight down at him.
Startled, Cass tossed the pillow into roughly its original spot and stood up, nearly tripping over his own feet in the process. “Oh uh, hello! I’m Cassius, and you are?”
