It was the end of the school year and Jack was dying to travel back home for the summer. He was very pleased with how competent the Aladren Quidditch team was. He'd not only beaten his brother's team, but Teppalus as well, though it seemed as though no one was worried about losing to the combined team in the slightest. Despite how pleased he was at his team's success, he was longing to return home. He never thought he'd be homesick for the bustling London streets and his ridiculous younger sister and his over-bearing parents, but he was. He missed England terribly.
Perhaps part of his homesickness came from the lack of social interactions he'd had at Sonora. His room-mate seemed withdrawn, his house-mates socially inept, and he could hardly get two words to anyone without them labelling him as Adam or Charlotte's little brother. At least he and Jemima got on well enough; they could relate to each other as the middle children, but she wasn't an Aladren.
After reading in the library for a little while, Jack stood up and stretched. It'd be best if he began packing now instead of rushing to shove everything into his bag later on after the Faire. They didn't learn the packing spell until second year, so he'd read in his book, so until then Jack would have to rely on his hands.
He walked into the common room not expecting much. The silver and blue was a very nice combination, much lovelier than brown and gold or red and silver. When he entered his room, he'd make brief eye-contact with his room-mates, perhaps make some small talk that would drift into silence whilst he packed his belongings eager to leave for his home country.
All of those plans, however, were blown away as [Norman] accosted him as soon as Jack stepped into the dorm room: "Hey, want to go to the Renaissance Faire with me?" [Norman] asked, and Jack froze for a second, trying to understand what his room-mate had just asked. "You want to go to the Faire together?" he asked, reiterating his room-mate's question, then shrugged. "Yes, why not? Sounds fun." He moved on, half glad he wouldn't have to tag along with Adam or Charlotte and half disappointed that he wouldn't be able to tag along with Adam or Charlotte. But this was progress. Jack's dreams of becoming best mates with his room-mates perhaps wasn't completely lost after all. "Have you ever been to one before?" he asked as he began to gather his things together.

As Jack began packing his things, he wondered what the appeal of a Renaissance Faire was. After hearing what the Midsummer Event was going to be, Jack had done his research and the entire Renaissance period seemed like a dirtier, poorer version of today's society. A time of art and exploration, but also of ignorance. He highly doubted they had books and tomes as diverse and well kept as today. The violence of the times were very brutal as well, and the burning of witches and wizards was not something Jack wanted to celebrate.
In any case, he hoped the Faire that Sonora put on was very different from that and focused more on the artwork and crafts rather than the history of the time period. "I've never been to one," he replied, "but I did some research on it. Did you know they hunted witches and wizards during that time and burnt them on the stake?" He shivered. "Flame-Freezing Charms would come in handy then, wouldn't they? If I was a wizard at that time I wouldn't stand for it. It's no wonder we had to hide our identities from Muggles. I don't think they're terrible or anything; they just wouldn't be able to understand us and would probably shun us for our abilities."
That was a long answer to Pye's question and Jack piled up his books into his trunk. He was glad to have a room-mate who was relatively clean and organised. Jack himself couldn't keep his desk tidy for the life of him, but it was an organised clutter. The space around his bed was neat and he always put his clothes back into his drawers here unlike his bedroom at home. Living with two other lads made him a little more self-conscious about his mess.
Jack looked over at Pye's exclamation. "I know what you mean," sighed Jack, looking at his own piles of notes. "It takes up a ridiculous amount of space, but we'll probably need to keep it. I can't imagine what my cousin's desk looks like. Seven years worth of parchment; good Merlin." Now distracted, Jack stood up and began shovelling the parchments together. They were ordered by their date and separated into different piles for his different courses. "Do you have any clips I could use to keep them together an organised?" he asked. "They'll have to stay together for the long journey home." He paused for a moment. "You're from England too, aren't you? Whereabouts?"
