As was normal for the end of the year, Coach Pierce's owl Boomer was sent out to visit several students who probably recognized the large eagle owl but had not previously received direct contact with him. One such student was Arnold Carey. David Wilkes was graduating in only a few days, so the younger Aladren would become the Captain of his team next year. That would likely not come as any surprise to the Assistant Captain, but it was always nice to get it in writing, especially when the Quidditch season this year had been decidedly uneventful.
Captain Arnold Carey, the letter attached to the owl's leg began.
Congratulations, you have been promoted to Quidditch Captain. Next year, you will be responsible for putting up sign-up sheets, holding try-outs, reserving the pitch for your team, and hosting practices throughout the year. You will, of course, have the help of an assistant captain. I recommend Katrina McLevy.
She was the next oldest after those in Arnold's year, after all, and had been an enthusiastic member of the team since her first year. She'd have to check her roster archives, but Amelia thought Kitty may have even gotten off the reserve bench before the current Captain had, despite their age difference. Still, she couldn't help a tiny hope that Arnold may go against tradition and not take the recommendation, and give the assistant position to Thaddeus instead. Unfortunately, aside from nepotism, there was no good reason to recommend her brother over Miss McLevy. She always recommended the next oldest student unless there was a clear reason not to. Thaddeus would get his turn to be Assistant Captain in time.
If you would rather another, please owl me your choice so I can make sure the right person get the badge next year. You may tell your assistant of his or her promotion yourself. Congratulations and good luck.
Coach Amelia Pierce
OOC: Due to Kitty's quietness this year, feel free to choose somebody else, but I can come up with no valid IC reason to make a different recommendation. Of course, I'm going to be very busy next term as well, so I don't know if Thaddeus will post any more regularly either, and the author has been posting Angel. It's your call.
