The large eagle owl that several students - mostly those who were involved in Quidditch or were Crotalus prefects - around the school had come to recognize as Coach Pierce's had slightly farther to go to deliver his second missive of the afternoon, but it was still within the same building. It was a few days after the Quidditch Final and Amelia was finishing up the last of the Quidditch administration for the year.
This particular loose end was in regards to the fact that Aladren was about to lose its captain and two promotions were about to take place within the house team.
The first was obvious and would not come as any surprise to anyone, and that was the first addressed in the letter Boomer delivered to Edmond Carey.
Dear Captain Carey, First, let me congratulate you on your promotion to Captain for next year's Quidditch Season. As Captain, you will be responsible for putting up the Sign-up sheet at the beginning of the year, organizing and running try-outs and practices, and turning in your team roster within the first month of term.
The second item was also predictable, though the subject of that promotion was not always a given. For Aladren this year, it had been a particular difficult call. The next oldest after Edmond had only ever been a reserve, but the year after him would have made her choose between four of the other players, all of them with excellent qualities both on and off the Pitch, and Amelia didn't really want to delve into that particular Gordian knot yet. So she put it off for another year.
Unless you have a strong preference for someone other than David Wilkes, you may inform him that he will be appointed as your Assistant Captain next year. If you would prefer someone else, just drop me an owl letting me know who and I'll put in the appropriate paperwork. Otherwise, I'll assume it will be David.
