As it turned out, Preston had surprised him so his initial plan to stick the first year into Keeper and hope for the best was scraped. Granted, he was hardly the best Beater Daniel had ever seen, but he'd tried hard and seemed committed to the position, so he was willing to give the kid the benefit of the doubt.So Beaters were Edmond and Preston.
Arnold was Seeker. No question or deliberation necessary there. His showing in the race made it a done deal. Only Seekers needed to be that
Which left only Samantha and Arthur to be chosen as Keeper and the third Chaser. They were both competent and experienced enough that he didn't feel that Keeper had to be what it had been for Grayson (a position of limited harm) and he might actually be able to choose a Keeper based on actual Keeping skill. In which case, it was Samantha. She'd let three in, but two of those had been early on before she got into the groove. Once she'd got into the right mindset, only one of five had made it past her. Daniel could only assume she'd get better with practice.
So that was that. He had a team.
