Professor Fawcett

After leading them some way through the school, pausing on occasion to make sure he hadn't lost anyone, John lead the first years to a pair of doors. There, he stopped and then turned to face the small group, doing another recount even as he did. He had once reserved such care for his work and little else, but the times changed.

"We are about to enter the library," he informed them. "As I'm sure many of you will be delighted to hear, your common room can be found through it." He paused for a stern look. "I must ask, however, that you do not wander off tonight. There's plenty of time for that tomorrow, and we don't want anyone getting lost." That all said, he opened the doors and waved them through. Now that they were about to enter the labyrinth of the stacks, John wanted them where he could see them.

After many twists and turns, enough to dizzy the first year students and almost him, they came to the very back wall of the library. With a slight smile, John pulled down a shabby book entitled Birds of Prey and held it up so all of his charges could see it as the wall receded behind him and revealed a bit of common room. "Removing this book from its shelf will open the common room entrance," he said, feeling it a bit redundant but necessary just the same. "I must ask that you do not share that information with anyone who does not belong to our House."

The common room itself was fitted with comfortable chairs and sofas and, due to its coloring, a somewhat less inviting appearance. In fact, with all the black and blue, it was hard not to get the impression of a bruise, though the bookshelves did help make up for it. Taking up a spot on the hearth rug, John waved the students to seats, half-remembering being in their position forty-odd years before. "Welcome to Aladren," he said warmly. "I'm sure your older Housemates will join me in hoping that you enjoy your seven years here. As I said before we left the Cascade Hall, I am Professor Fawcett, your Head of House and – ah – the Potions professor.” He considered mentioning that he was, properly, a Magisociologist, but as he’d met plenty of adult wizards who weren’t quite sure what that was, he decided to leave it alone for now. It was all spelled out in the syllabi he’d written up for his classes anyway.

“If you require assistance of some kind, my office can be found through here.” He pointed to the internal door. “The outside door can also be found just down the hall. Your prefects are also Mr. Paul Tarwater, Mr. Lucas Smythe, and Mr. Grayson Wright, who I’m sure would be pleased to help you. Curfew is at ten p.m. each night, and you are not permitted to visit the common rooms of others, or to bring them here.”

Office, prefects, rules….Notice board. “And here is the notice board,” he said. “You will find pertinent information about school events and clubs here. The Quidditch sign-up list should be appearing soon, and first years are allowed to join if they are so inclined.

“Up those stairs, you will find your dormitories. Boys’ dorms are on your left, girls’ dorms are on your right. I would advise you not to attempt to break this rule, as the corridors will magically repel you if you try. Your year number is on the door. Are there any questions?”

OOC: Welcome to Sonora! As of now, you may post here and other places around the site (the other common rooms excepted). Have fun!
