Once the new term had begun as it should, there arrived a new poster on the noticeboard in each of the commons. It was printed neatly on unassuming plain parchment, but its rhyme and reason were likely to cause much excitement. The title of this notice read, 'School Concert' in large, bold letters, attracting the attention of anyone who would stray near the board. Below the title were further details. Each of these notices were identical, and the text was as follows:
At the end of this school year you will have the opportunity to take part in a concert, arranged and performed by students of Sonora Academy. The concert will be held in the Cascade Hall, with an audience of your fellow students and school staff. Each House will showcase two performances: one group act, and one solo act. If you would like to take part in either of these performances in any way, please indicate your interest by signing your name, year, and particular interests and/or skills on the sheet below.
The final details of the performance will be decided by your House prefects and Head. Please contact them if you have any queries concerning the concert.
The three-columned space below allowed for some detail of suggestions, and also permitted students to indicate whether they desired to be considered for the solo performance, and what they would perform, or if they would prefer to remain behind the scenes. With such variety offered to the students in each House, it was unlikely the sign-up sheet would remain blank for any great amount of time.\r\n\r\n

As Danny checked in on the notice board on his way out to breakfast, he noticed a new bulletin. Reading through it, he figured he was pretty much required to participate, being a professional actor and all. Besides, he kind of missed it. He took out a pen and put his name at the first available spot on the list.
Daniel Nash; first year; acting, some experience with singing and dance; prefer group performance
It wasn't that he though his skill wasn't good enough for the solo act - with a recurring television role to his name, he felt quite the opposite - he just didn't think acting worked without somebody else to work off of. Plus, if he did a solo thing, he'd probably have to come up with his own script, and he just wasn't that creative.
He wouldn't mind taking a lead role in the group thing, actually he would like that a lot, but that was for the prefects and the Heads to decide. And while he had taken both voice and ballroom lessons, he wasn't sure how much 'concert' meant everyone had to be musically inclined. He wouldn't embarrass himself, he knew, but neither was that his greatest skill.
Samantha still couldn't believe she was stuck in Aladren house. Sure there were plenty of purebloods from good families here, but it just wasn't for her. Most of the others were complete and total nerds. Even worse, one of her roommates was the Quidditch Captain. She had to be objectionable and almost certainly had to like girls. Samantha did her best to avoid spending too much time around her. She was also worried that the other girl would be an even worse influence on her twin. This school needed a student chapter of WAIL in the worst way. She was going to have to start it up again.
And the other roommate was just a fashion nightmare . Samantha thought she just looked...cheap. That could be fixed though, she hoped. Looking at the other girl's clothing just made her eyes bleed. Samantha couldn't believe she'd been elected Head Girl dressed in such attire.
Another thing she could not believe she had missed this notice about the concert. Perhaps it was because of how bland the parchment it was on. It needed to be on something far more eye-catching. That was probably why there was only one person signed up.
But that was soon to change. Samantha placed her name on the sheet,
Samantha Hollister, 7th year, solo, I have an outstanding voice and total stage presence.
In truth, to any objective party, Samantha's voice was decent but nothing special. However, the elder Hollister twin thought quite differently. She felt she deserved the solo. Samantha belonged in the spotlight and she certainly wasn't going to be upstaged, especially by some firstie who wasn't even from a family she recognized.
OOC Disclaimer: Author agrees with nothing Samantha says....ever. In fact, please just consider this a disclaimer for all Samantha's future posts.

Agreeing to join the Concert was, all things considered, a stupid thing for Anne to do. Since she'd done it, and done it in a public place to boot, she took a somewhat battered quill from her pocket once the House meeting ended and put her name on the pitifully bare list of volunteers for what would either be a credit to the House or proof that social events should be banned.
Anne Wright, 7th Year, Can do Whatever. Okay on broom, some music, Charms/Transfiguration good enough for stage-magic.
Strictly speaking, Anne could also dance. Along with music, her mother had made her take ballet lessons, and she'd been taught formal dancing as part of her etiquette lessons when she'd first come to Magnolia Grove. Since she liked to keep that information fairly quiet, however, she decided to tell Bella about it privately instead of putting it on the board for everyone to see.
Now that she was officially in, Anne's first major order of business was to reevaluate her schedule and figure out what she'd have to do to incorporate practicing for the Concert. Her second order of business was to find her cousin and her best friend and bully them into joining the event.
