After the Welcoming Feast, Eleanor trudged back to her room tired out. The move from quiet and calm Surrey to a much faster-paced city wasn't easy to get used to and sometimes she found herself a little tired out by the almost constant stimulation. Still, she really liked living in the city after adjusting to it. It suited her better and her parents seemed to enjoy it too even if it was less clean.
This year she was looking forward to solidifying her relationship with Tristan and getting stupid Leo out of her mind. They were friends and once upon a time she had wanted to marry him, but now she didn't care. Or at least, she didn't want to want to care. It was frustrating and she just focused on how mad she was at him all the time. It was easier that way and made Tristan so much more appealing as a future spouse even if he didn't play Quidditch.
Nell pushed the door open to her room and saw her roommate inside. "Hi Charlotte," she said pleasantly. "I'm going to go brush my teeth first. I think there's some salad wedged in somewhere and it's really bothering me." She grabbed her pajamas and went straight to the bathroom. As an only child, it hadn't been easy learning to share a room with another girl, but over time she'd grown used to it. The room was big enough for the both of them and their stuff, not to mention there were only two of them. Nellie knew that there were some houses that had around three or four others sharing a room and she couldn't even imagine that. She'd gotten lucky.
She went back into the room after brushing and changing into her mauve nightgown. "You know, after the seventh Welcoming Feast I think it's kind of grown on me. I used to hate the song and singing before the meal. But maybe I'm just getting sentimental. Do you think Crotalus is going to have an actual Quidditch team this year? It's sad how few boys in our house play. I wish Tristan would play. He'd be a great Chaser, or even a Seeker. I wrote him letters over the summer. How are you and Emrys doing? I saw him sitting with you during the feast." Eleanor didn't know much about Emrys, but he seemed like a good guy. At the very least he was a pureblood. "Are you officially dating now?"
OOC: Since Nellie moved to London and Charlotte lives in London, would it be safe to assume they hung out over the summer?

After Emrys left her at the feast to check on his room-mate, Charlotte waited a few minutes before she couldn’t wait any longer and returned to her dorm room. She’d eaten a good amount, but not enough to fill her up after a day’s worth of travelling. She wanted to be a patient and understanding girlfriend, but it was difficult with such a social wizard as her significant other. Charlotte was terribly shy, a trait she had strived to rid herself of without much success. It was unfair, seeing how social her siblings were – even little Lily – whilst shy Charlotte attached herself to her brother and found it incredibly difficult to make small talk. At least she had her looks going for her, and a figure kept thin by refusing to eat at all if she had to eat alone in public. It was rare back home, eating alone, but here at Sonora there were times she gave up a meal because she just couldn’t eat by herself.
Though she was still somewhat hungry, Charlotte had snuck away a few tangerines that she was in the process of unpeeling in her nightgown when Eleanor entered the room. Her room-mate began to talk and Charlotte listened as she always did. She liked Eleanor – they had similarities and both came from relatively good families. She talked much more than Charlotte did and Charlotte appreciated that, though at times it wore the English witch down a little.
One nice bit about having an English room-mate, however, was the familiar company. Charlotte had never really made an effort to see Eleanor during holidays, but this summer they were able to do more than simply write to each other. It was nice, having a school friend in the same city as she. Though Charlotte missed Emrys during the holidays from school and wasn’t quite sure how their relationship was going to work out after graduation, she knew Eleanor would be around as long as neither witch ran into a scandal of some sort or their family was disgraced.
As Nellie did her business, Charlotte ate the slices of her tangerine and wondered if Emrys had successfully comforted his room-mate. Her own room-mate didn’t seem fazed by the Head Girl results, a fact Charlotte was only a little surprised by. Emery must have really wanted it. At least Ji-Eun Park was Head Girl this year and not someone like Ava Fletcher, a witch Charlotte was still jealous of from time to time because of her relationship to Emrys.
Charlotte’s thoughts were disturbed when Eleanor reemerged. She knew bits and pieces of Eleanor’s relationship to Tristan, one of the wizards in their house, though Charlotte had once imagined Leo and Nellie getting together. Knowing Leo, however little Charlotte knew of him, it wouldn’t have worked out anyway but it was a nice sentiment. It was of little consequence, really, whom Nellie fancied as Charlotte didn’t have any romantic interest in the sorts of wizards Nellie liked.
When Eleanor asked about Emrys, Charlotte could feel her cheeks growing warm. “I honestly don’t think Crotalus will be able to put a team together unless every first year volunteers,” she said first. “As for Emrys and I, well, I don’t know if we’re official or not. We’re dating, but he hasn’t actually asked me to be his girlfriend. That’s important, isn’t it, for the wizard to ask? It’s proper, isn’t it?” Charlotte focused her eyes on peeling her last tangerine, cheeks still warm. “I think Tristan would be good at Quidditch if he tried. Have you ever asked him why he doesn’t play?”
OOC: Yes, Charlotte would have liked that.
