Quidditch Sign-Ups by Captain Cepheus Princeton

After sending out the letter to Sasha Sinclair alerting him of his new position, Cepheus wrote out the Quidditch sign-ups. He was determined to see Crotalus win this term. The American witches had this silly notion that Quidditch was solely a wizard’s sport, and Ceph thought it ridiculous. Some great Quidditch players were witches in professional English Quidditch teams, and one his good friends back home was a part of the Quidditch team at Hogwarts. Crotalus attracted the proper sort, American or not, and as a result the team, for as long as Ceph had been on it, had always consisted of wizards. Ceph didn’t mind it, of course, but he also enjoyed playing with tough witches. The Pecaris weren’t exactly tough, but for as long as Ceph could remember, their team had always consisted of witches and they’d won the Quidditch Cup more than Crotalus ever had. That had to be changed and if that meant bringing witches into the Crotalus team, Cepheus was not afraid of it. Though the first years were small and inexperienced, Cepheus had high hopes for them. The Crotalus Quidditch team needed it.

It was late in the evening when Cepheus went down to post the sign-ups, still in his uniform robes, but he wanted it there for tomorrow morning. First years would most likely glance at the noticeboard after Skies told them about it, and the earlier he posted it the better.

Quidditch Sign-ups
If you would like to join the Crotalus team this year, please sign your name, year, and preferred position(s) in the space below. Practises will be held twice weekly. Open try-outs will be held Saturday morning at 10am on the Quidditch pitch.

In the empty space on the parchment below the notice, Cepheus wrote his name as an example: Cepheus Princeton, 7th, Seeker.

Cepheus took one last look at it before going up to bed, the excitement of the new Quidditch season draining slightly into fears of an inadequate Quidditch team and disqualification as Teppenpaw had suffered the year before. But he couldn't think that way; not yet.

Signing up. by Sasha Sinclair

Sasha was irritated about having to come back to Sonora. He felt this place was not up to the standards that his Great Grandfather had claimed and Sasha’s father was tempted to agree. After Sasha had told him all of the disgusting creature that he had to take classes with, his father had become most displeased. His son deserved only to be in school with the best of families. He wanted to pull Sasha from the school and have him attend an all boys’ school in Russia that had several families they associated with attending. But Sasha’s Great Grandfather had refused to allow it. He stated that they already had control in Russia; he wanted the family to stake a claim into America. The Heir and his children had already made promising connections. Now, it was Sasha’s turn.

Sasha thought about the girls in his class. There weren’t many and those that were there, he wasn’t sure about. Liliana, who he thought was possibly a good candidate, was always around that idiot, Atlas. Clearly, she had no idea who the right people were to be around. Serena was also from a good family, but Great Grandfather had reserves regarding the Brockerts. Plus, Sasha didn’t know anything about the girl. Like, she was just a wash to him. The only other girl he knew of was Ariel and though he found her quite pretty, she was not at all from the proper family. He was hoping there were reasonable hopefuls the year below him; otherwise, his Great Grandfather might as well pull him out now.

When he had finally gone up to his dorm room, Sasha had found a letter waiting for him. He had no idea why he would have a letter so soon and opened it to find that Cepheus had granted him the position as Assistant Captain. A smug grin spread across Sasha’s pale face at the news. He had honestly believed that Leo Princeton would have become Assistant based on the family relation, but Cepheus had proved him wrong. This just showed that Sasha was deserving of the title and would get the Captain’s badge the following year. It was clear that people saw him for what he was and rightfully deserved.

The following morning, despite being rudely awoken by the elves that he had to chase off for going through his things without his permission, Sasha eagerly signed his name under Cepheus’s.
