An Owl for Cepheus Princeton by Stan

Since Florence was still new to the process of transitioning Quidditch captains, it had taken her a bit of time to send her owl. It was a scruffy little thing, unused to the intense desert heat of Arizona, and much more used to making long trips than short ones around campus. But Stan, short for Stanislavsky, was a faithful bird and not as temperamental as others Florence had come into contact with. After the Welcoming Feast, the new captains would find a letter on their desk, Stan having delivered them just an hour before.

Captain Cepheus Princeton,

Congratulations, you have been promoted to Quidditch Captain. This year, you will be responsible for putting up sign-up sheets, holding try-outs, reserving the pitch for your team, and hosting practices throughout the year. You will, of course, have the help of an assistant captain. I would recommend Viktor Volkov.

The choices for assistant captain were slim, all of them being much younger than Cepheus, but there was more of an opportunity for the Princeton to teach the younger students all he knew. Whether or not they did any assisting was secondary in this case.

If you would rather another assist you, or don’t feel you can perform these duties as Captain, please owl me so I can make sure the right people get their badges before the season officially begins. You may tell your assistant of his or her promotion yourself. Congratulations and good luck.

Coach Florence Olivers

Looking for Sasha Sinclair by Cepheus Princeton

After the Welcoming Feast, Cepheus was in high spirits as he made his way back to his common room. The pesky first years would be out of the way by now, having been led there by their new Head of House, and Cepheus would be able to relax in his empty dorm room. He wished Gareth were around to talk with him about what he ought to do with his current relationship, but his best mate was back in the United Kingdom. Alicia was his second choice on his girlfriend talk, but he would have talked with another lad about it, though he wasn’t friends with many at this school.

He arrived to see a letter waiting for him on his desk and Cepheus smiled, having an idea of who it could be from. Seeing his name on the envelope, he ripped it open and was pleased to see the title ‘Captain’ before his full name. The expected Quidditch captain position. Finally.

Ceph read through the formalities briefly, pausing on Professor Olivers’s recommendation for Assistant. The choices were slim and there weren’t any Crotali that really stood out to Ceph. He had the option of making Leo assistant, but he had a feeling that would be suicide for the entire team if Leo ever became captain. His youngest brother had ambition, probably the most ambition out of any of them, but he was no team player. Viktor was too headstrong for Ceph’s taste and had tendencies that made Cepheus nervous just thinking of how the team would turn out under his leadership. That left out the third years. The only other current Quidditch team-mates were second years and Cepheus had no choice but to decide on either Isaac or Sasha. Isaac was Alicia’s brother which made Ceph slightly biased, but Isaac’s attitude towards him hadn’t been the friendliest.

Not knowing if he was making the right decision or not, Cepheus penned a letter to the lucky second year who would take over the team after he graduated. He could have gone down to the common room to seek him out, but he was tired after his trip and wanted nothing more than to get started on the sign-up sheet right away.

Mr Sinclair:

I am pleased to inform you that you will be the Assistant Captain for the Quidditch team this year. I look forward to working with you and believe you will be a great addition to the leadership of this team.

Yours,
Cepheus Princeton, Captain
