Oliver Abbott

With all the excitement - if you could call it that - of the first day back at school (which happened to include having spaghetti dumped on his head), Oliver hadn't gotten round to putting up the sign up sheet. So the following morning, he threw together a very basic notice. Unlike the other Houses, he didn't need to entice people onto the team with flashy notices. He would just put up the sheet, and people would sign up. It was that simple. Of course, if they didn't sign up (which was unlikely, but stranger things had happened) Oliver and his sister would simply hunt people down and gently encourage them to sign up. No problem.

So the first morning back, after he was dressed and ready, Oliver finished his simple notice. He added his own name (he considered adding Charlie's too, but decided he would let her sign her own name), year and position, and pinned it to the board.

Crotalus Quiddithc

He stood back to admire it, and then turned on his heel and headed for the first class of the year. He was expecting the list to be full by the time he returned at the end of the day. They had to have an amazing team this year. Not just because he wanted to win in his only year of being captain, but also because he wanted to crush Teppenpaw in a thorough and humiliating way. It was only fair.

Charlotte Abbott

Charlotte had been far too excited the first evening back at school to even notice whether or not the Quidditch sheet had been put up. She did notice it in the morning, and wondered how long it had been there, considering her brother's name was still the only one on the list. deciding it looked lonely, Charlie added her own details to the list: Charlie Abbott, 4th year, Chaser. It was implied she was already on the team, considering she was Assistant Captain, but she knew Oliver would still make her try-out anyway. the sister in her said it was plain meanness. The Quidditch player in her knew it was only fair to try everyone out. Besides, it might look like favoritism otherwise.

Charlie wondered who else would add their name below hers. Lutece, maybe? Then she would probably have to watch her brother make out every pratcise. Ew, gross. Maybe Dmitry would sign up like he said he might, and Oliver could watch them make out instead. Haha.

Her mind now firmly off the subject of Quidditch, Charlie made her way off to class, where she would probably learn nothing because of all the boy-shaped distractions in her yeargroup. If she was going to pass her exams next year she was really going to have to focus. they should break up the lessons by gender or something to at least give her a sporting chance! If they had to do groupwork again she was going to have to rely on Lita to control her. Charlie was so lucky to have such an amazing best friend; it was just a shame Lita wasn't interested in Quidditch. Or some other stuff Charlie enjoyed.

Lutece Anthony

April 08, 2010 6:00 PM
Oh, Quidditch. Lutece’s sporadic relationship with the sport had only been eclipsed in the past several years with her sporadically changing relationship with Oliver. However, things had changed again recently. She was signing up for Quidditch again too. Not that the two had anything to do with each other. But not that Lutece would mind the extra time spent with Oliver, either. Even if this whole being Captain thing did just give him another opportunity to boss her around. Stupid boys and their stupid need to be bossy. It was bad enough having Potions with him sometimes, but having to listen to him for real in Quidditch, too? The brunette shrugged her shoulders, realising she was grinning a bit stupidly at Oliver’s name on the board. Charlie’s was there too, of course—there was something going on between James and Charlie, or there had been last year.

Not that Lutece really cared about what her brother was up to with who. James was like, fourteen or something like that, and way too damn smart for her own good. From what Oliver had said, it didn’t sound like Charlie was too smart, but she supposed that didn’t matter.

Oliver, Oliver, Oliver. Was it bad that she was putting little mental hearts next to his name whenever she thought it? Probably. Humming to herself and still grinning a bit stupidly, Lutece moved her self-inking, purple-inked quill up to the list to neatly inscribe her name, desired position, and year. It would be fun.

Lutece Anthony, 7th Year, Keeper.

Dmitry Talsky

April 10, 2010 12:17 PM
Dmitry Talsky walked into the Commons yawning early that morning. He was dressed in a pair of black slacks, a nice short sleeved black blouse, with a maroon vest over it, his robes were draped over his arm that also carried his school bag. Dmitry wasn’t sure if Sonora was like Drumstrang but they weren’t allowed to eat in their school robes so he had decided to keep that tradition up. He sat down wondering if he should wait to see Miss. Abbott would want him to escort her down to breakfast. He rubbed his face and saw the Quidditch Sign ups.

“Excellent!” He said in his thick Russian accent. He opened up his school bag and pulled out a quill and walked over a bit exacted that one thing hadn’t changed from Drumstrang, of course if it had been Drumstrang his signing up would not have been necessary. Looking at the list he was more then surprised to see that there were two girls signed up already, it seemed that the girls at Sonora were freer the ones he had known all his life.

Finally the fourth year signed put quill to paper and wrote.

Theo Manzana

Theo wasn’t surprised to see the Quidditch sign up sheet up already and as glad Oliver had put it up. He wanted to go back to the team but he wasn’t sure if he wanted to be a beater again. He rubbed his face as he grabbed a quill out of his bag. He paused for a moment thinking about what to sign up for. Sure he wasn’t that bad of a beater but he wasn’t that great and he was sure some one could do better then he. Finally he sighed and wrote:

Theo Manzana --- 2nd year---Seeker/Beater

He decided to try out for Seeker because he had been playing as seeker with his family since Mom and Dad insisted on playing beater so no one would could get mad at the others for hitting them on purpose. With that he walked away happily read for breakfast.

Marissa Stephenson

She had tried her best, but Marissa had been unable to win the game for Crotalus last year. That she'd been competing with someone far more experienced did do something to ease the sting of that, but not quite enough. She couldn't help but feel like she'd let everyone down.

In light of that, she had seriously considered not coming back to the team. Sports had never been much more than an acceptable secondary interest for her, and she needed all the time she could get to study here anyway. Her attempts at basic spells on the first night back had gone far, far better than it had last year, but considering exactly how poorly that had gone, Marissa knew that saying she'd made progress wasn't saying all that much. Leaving maintaining the House honor to other people seemed like it might just be the best solution for everyone.

Crotalus, though, didn't have that many willing Quidditch players, and Marissa had a need to prove herself. It was, as she admitted, a bad combination, especially since both problems had the same solution. That appealed to a hyperactive multi-tasker in her, making the situation too close to being as inevitable as the loss last year.

She signed up.

Samuel Bauer

In Sam's experience, the only thing to do when a place or situation was so new that he didn't know enough to base a plan on was to jump in headlong and hope for the best. It didn't always work out - doing that in fourth grade was a large part of the reason why he hated Rick Riordan with a passion only rivaled by his hatred for Rick Riordan's fan group at his Muggle school - but it usually beat standing around aimlessly and hoping people took pity on him soon. That approach never worked long enough to get much of anything done, which was why he'd eventually abandoned it.

Wizard school was one of the things he was finding he just had to jump into. Mom and Uncle Jake had tried to tell him a little about it, but their stories from the eighties, or whenever, had not done the little he'd seen of the place a lot of justice. Being a first year made him think he ought to have a bit of an inferiority complex, but since Sam had possessed one of those his entire life, he hadn't found it much of a hinderance so far. That, he felt, was going very for him; despite the overstimulation of all the new things he was adjusting to making him irritate himself, no one had even offered to hit him yet.

With that encouraging thought in mind, Sam had decided to sign up for the Quidditch team. The Big Move meant he had been short on opportunities to fly for a few years, but a first year was probably going to end up on second string, anyway, and it would give him something to do besides pit his skills for preparation and directionality against the Gardens. Sooner or later, the Gardens were bound to win. His usual position already had two older students looking into it, so he signed up for his second choice.
