First year boys' dorm by Oliver Abbott

Apart from meeting Matt on the first Day of term, Oliver had managed to barely speak to his roommates so far. They all seemed to keep themselves pretty much to themselves, which was fine for a while, but Oliver wasn’t sure he could last the rest of the year knowing so little about the people he shared a room with, let alone seven whole years. So he had placed himself resolutely in the first year boys’ room and lay on his bed. After a few minutes of waiting and no-one arriving, Oliver took out a copy of Quidditch Through the Ages he had borrowed from the library, and flicked through it, mostly looking at the pictures. He had been thrilled to get a place on the house Quidditch team, even if it was only a reserve position, it was better than nothing. Since his parents had never let him play before, Oliver wasn’t sure how good he would be, but he was good at most other sports he played, so he couldn’t see why Quidditch would be any different.

Footsteps approaching the door made Oliver look up. He adjusted his glasses and pushed his blonde hair out of his eyes as he looked up to see who had pushed the door open.
