Jennifer Zucchero

November 28, 2006 7:07 PM
Before school started again, Jennifer had had every intention of resigning as the Crotalus team captain. In her mind, if she couldn’t manage to catch the snitch in any game she’d played while at the school, obviously there was something wrong with her as a player. And if that was true, than she didn’t deserve to be in charge of a team.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on whose side one was taking, after spending the summer pondering it, she’d decided she might as well give it one more shot. (Not making prefect may have had something to do with it, but she didn’t like to think about that.) She’d just work in a bit more practices, try and get both herself and the team more ready, and see how things went.

With the thought of getting a head start fresh in her mind, she’d remained in the common room the night of the feast a little later, and tacked up her sign.

QUIDDITCH SIGN-UP

For all those interested in playing on the Crotalus house team in the coming year, please sign your name, year, and position below. While some priority will be given to those on the team last year, try-outs will be held before any final decision is made.

If you have any questions, or are new to the sport and aren’t sure what position would work best for you, feel free to see me at any time.

Chrissy Mathers

November 29, 2006 11:03 PM
It had been a couple of days since the opening feast and Chrissy was still getting over the idea of having responsibilities. That, and she had a weird fear that the first years would start calling her Chysanthmum to the point where she'd ask Lily to take them out one by one. Luckily, nothing had been too terrible, and no one had called her that name as far as she was aware.

Sighing, Chrissy stood infront of the Quidditch board. She knew how much Jennifer wanted people to sign up for the team. Chrissy figured that Jennifer was probably uncertain about everything since their loss last year, but Chrissy thought she was a good Captain, a great roommate, and an even better friend...when she wasn't being anti-social or hanging out with that Pecari girl.

Shrugging, Chrissy pulled out a quill and signed her name smoothly across the parchment.

Lutece Anthony

November 30, 2006 5:29 AM
Lutece looked at the sign and bit her lip. After that conversation with Jennifer...wel...she wasn't exactly sure about this. Should she do it? Tugging absently on the bottom of her t-shirt, Lutece firmly made up her mind. Pulling a pen out of her pocket, she firmly wrote, in her best penmenship:

Lutece Anthony, first year, Keeper

That done, Lutece walked quickly away, a bit embarassed to be found signing up for something she still didn't quite know how to do.\n\n

Lily Collins

November 30, 2006 4:00 PM
Lily walked up to the sign-up sheet and quickly signed her name. She couldn't wait to get out there and aim bludgers at people. She really hadn't minded the change of positions of all.

Lily Collins, 5th year, Beater

Then Lily surveyed the list. Along with Jennifer and Chrissy, some first year had signed up.....for Keeper! A small smirk formed on her face. She hoped this Lutece was really good. Lily, of course, had no idea who she was, but she had to be smarter than Earl. Besides, Lily would feel less disgusting trying to stop bludgers from hitting her and not want to send them towads her instead.\n\n

Gwen Carey

November 30, 2006 6:03 PM
Gwen chewed on her lower lip, staring at the Quidditch sign-up list without really seeing it. She had seen it, at first, but there was only so long that one could fix one's attention on a given object before it went out of focus. If she didn't put her name down, then she'd lied to Chrissy and Lily, and they were neither of them good people to have after her blood. If she didn't put her name down, she would be giving up something she genuinely liked to do. If she put her name down, she would also be strapping herself to the chopping block her head was already on.

She thought she was safe - Andrew had no reason to turn on her, and a few reasons not to - but the best-laid plans were always the first to go wrong, or so the expression went. She'd never tried going through with plans to find out. There were spies. Cate was the spy she knew about, but there had to be others. Would Cate look at this? Would any of the spies? They would have to be girls, wouldn't they? Most of the boys wouldn't even. Quidditch was, ironically, a girls' sport for the most part in Crotalus. Earl would rat her out, but her father wouldn't listen to Earl, Earl was a half-blood...

She'd told Chrissy and Lily that she would sign up again. The wording hadn't been careful enough for her to talk her way out of it even half-honorably. Honor was mostly for men with less sense than goats, but there were times for it. Maybe the spies wouldn't see, this time. Shaking her head to clear it, she found a quill she'd forgotten about having and began to write, smiling approvingly at her handwriting. Morgaine ridiculed it as too flowery, but Gwen herself liked it.

Earl Valentine

Earl did a double-take on the list and gnashed his teeth. While most of the people who had signed up so far had been on the team last year, there was one new addition; and that new addition wanted to be Keeper! That was his position and there was no way in hell that some firstie was taking it from him.

He signed the parchment in dark letters, underlining the word Keeper. He wasn't a bad Keeper. He was good, in fact. it was just that one little mess-up and all of a sudden, everyone hates him. he still felt hot whenever he thought of that game, but there was nothing he could do about the past; and the only thing he could about the present or future was to prove to the rest of his team, especially Jenny, that he was worth having on the team.

Earl double checked what he wrote and walked away. They wouldn't kick him off the team for a firstie...they couldn't.

Helena Layne

November 30, 2006 9:48 PM
Her grand plan for Geoff and Anne hadn't worked. Helena didn't know if she should have expected that or not, with Murphy's Law and all, but it was still a letdown. Making it worse was Kate's refusal to allow Geoff to break up with her before he left, which, along with Anne's insistence that it would be like dating her unattractive kid cousin, put paid to Helena's plot to catalyze the inevitable.

It was probably just bad luck taking its course, but Helena had decided she was going to lay off the matchmaking for a while. It wasn't like Sonora lacked in other avenues of diversion. She'd resolved near the end of the previous year to start socializing more this time around, and there were always assignments to catch up on and tricky bits of theory to study. More immediately pressing was Jennifer's early start to Quidditch recruiting.

The loss the year before had been hard, so much so that Helena had briefly considered hiding out in her dorm for the rest of her life, but that whole year was over, now. A new year and new beginnings, or whatever it was that her mother's WWN talk-show hosts went on so about. Lena decided not to think about Geoff's reaction if she didn't sign up for her House team, as she didn't like admitting that something as trivial as being teased by her brother could interfere with her decision-making process. Stopping en route to breakfast, she read over the list of names briefly before putting her own name down with a touch of a flourish near the end.

Geoff Spindler

Geoffrey regarded the list on names on the list already, reading them over carefully. Already there were plenty of new names alongside the old, but it didn't really matter. His talk with the Captain at the feast had decided things for him.

Geoffrey Spindler ~ Third Year ~ Chaser

He read over the names again, checking especially those signing up for Chaser before smiling slowly to himself. If he made it he knew it would mean that he was meant to be on the team. Putting his quill away again, he turned away and moved off to get on with other things.\n\n

Oliver Abbott

December 01, 2006 1:21 PM
Oliver’s attention had been drawn by the Quidditch sign up sheet on the common room notice board. Ever since he had been accepted to Sonora, Oliver had been looking forward to playing Quidditch; his parents had never let him play. They had encouraged him in soccer, baseball, swimming – in fact, practically every other sport out there, but they’d never let him play Quidditch. Here, though, they couldn’t stop him.

Reading the list of people who had already signed up, Oliver noted that almost all were older students. The fact that he was in first year coupled with the fact that priority was given to existing team members, Oliver felt his chances of making the team were slim. Still, they would be nil if he didn’t sign up.

Oliver rummaged in his back for a quill or pen. He withdrew the first writing implement that came to his grasp – a fountain pen with a chewed lid – and wrote his name in his neatest scrawl.

Matt Tripp

December 03, 2006 9:58 PM
Matt finally got to see the notice. Whenever he had tried to get a look at it before, there were always people around. But finally Matt had it within reach. But no, it couldn't be, that wasn't fair. There were already not only the three necessary Chasers, but an alternate signed up as well. Matt knew how it worked at this school. The returning players were given favor and then it was first come first serve. Matt groaned and cursed inwardly. Of course, it would not have done to curse outwardly. Tripps did not curse over something so frivolous. Besides, at some schools, Hogwarts, Durmstrang, and Youmens to name a few, first years were not even allowed on the house teams.

Matt took another look at the sheet. 'Oliver Abbott-First Year-Chaser.' Well at least Matt could practice with Oliver, that is if his roommate let him. And of course, there was always next year.\n\n

Dolan casually made his way across the common room on the way to his room. He paused and studied the sheet, and then in a careless scrawl, wrote his name.

Dolan Everywld. Chaser or Beater.

Having finished, he left the room to change clothes and get his broom. \n\n
