Jenna sat in a big comfy armchair, her tailless cat, Thorny curled up on her lap. She sat there staring at a blank piece of parchment, contemplating how in the world to write the letter to her parents. She wondered what her mother would think of her trying to break a ghost's riddle and talking to a plant. Or semi-cutting flying and being horrid at spellcasting. Somehow her mother's distress seemed to bring Jenna a smile to her face. She didn't need to hear the praise to know that her family would like to hear about how well she was doing in Potions and Care of Magical Creatures. Maybe she would only write about that.
She began the letter, with the usual Dear mother and father, how are you, I'm fine sort of things. She stopped abruptly when she felt the gaze of someone staring over her shoulder, and was startled she hadn't felt it before.
"If you don't mind, I'm trying to write a personal letter," said Jenna, looking up at the person.\n\n
Jenna slowly walked up the stairs, extremely tired. She couldn't believe how much work this all was. Her parents had told her it would be easy! But Charms was not easy, Care of Magical Creatures was not easy (she was sure it had been a cat) and she hated Potions. Defence Against the Dark Arts was really the only thing she was confident she could do. Of course, she couldn't tell anybody that. And she definatly couldn't tell her parents that. She set off to look for her parchment, deciding to write a letter to her parents. Then she remembered her bag, which had her parchment in it, was downstairs.
As she crossed over to her bag, she saw someone sitting in an armchair, also, it seemed, writing a letter. Her curiosoty getting the better of her, she forgot her parchment and walked behind the armchair, staring at her parchment. There was nothing written on it.
The girl all of a sudden turned to look at Jenna.
"If you don't mind, I'm trying to write a personal letter." She said, and Jenna immiediatly got annoyed.
"Well excuse me." She said annoyed. Jenna didn't like being told what to do. She never had, never would.\n\n
Jenna raised an eyebrow at the other girl's snappy retort. Obviously, Jenna wasn't the only one having a bad day.
"Well then," said Jenna in a very calm manner, "you're excused then. I hope your day gets better for you." She then turned back to her letter to continue writing to her family. Ending with a request to say hello to Jordanna for her, she signed her name in a graceful hand of script. She sighed, there were still more letters to be written: one to her brothers on the east coast, one to her second cousins starting their first year at Hecate Academy in Hawaii. She sighed, William III wasn't too bad, destined to be next monarch of the family, but Cornelia was the most annoying person in existance.
"Why do there have to be so many people to write to?" she wondered aloud.\n\n
0Jenna Hso much to write, so little time46Jenna H05
Jenna turned when she heard the girl say something about to many people to write to.
"Don't ask me." She said in return, wondering if it was a rhetorical question. Oh well.
Jenna sat down on a chair and got out her parchment. She sighed, knowing she also had a lot of people to write to. Her parents, her cousins, her aunts and uncles, her grandparents. She had to send letters to Hecate and other schools to reach her cousins. It was all to much.
"Why do you care if people read your letter?" Jenna all of a sudden asked, curious to know the answer.\n\n
0Jenna FRe: so much to write, so little time0Jenna F05
Jenna sighed, why didn't she like people reading her letters? It wasn't as if she had anything to hide, really. But she was always afraid someone like her mother might come along; who seemed to have the very nasty habit of being able to read minds, and would know the reasoning behind her choice of words. Yes, it was very paranoidal, but it could happen... probably... maybe not.
"Well, my parents are most definitely not the best of people, and my letters aren't always the kindest to them," she began uncomfortably, "and well, when you grow up in a cold family, your letters to them tend to be, well, cold. I try not to be, and it's not always intentional, but sometimes I tend to get very angry with them when writing letters, and it kind of shortens my temper. It's kind of hard to explain, but I am sorry I snapped at you like that before," Jenna finished truthfully.\n\n
Chrissy was growing restless while sitting up in the girl's dormitory. She hated the silence, even if she should be used to it by now. She felt as though she should be doing something, anything, now that she was a student.
Gently pushing Midnight off her lap, Chrissy stood and walked out of the dorm room. Midnight following at her heels. She quickly walked down the stairs and entered the common room, with a quick sweep of the room, she spotted Jenna (Howard) sitting at the table with another girl she had yet to met. Walking quickly over to where they were seated, Chrissy threw herself down in a chair and waited patiently for them to speak, looking for a chance to cut in.
Jenna stared at the girl. She was surprised she had answered her question, but she was happy with the answer.
"I see. Well, that also happens to me, and I guess what I was angry about was that I grew having my parents tell me Sonora was going to be so easy, and I walk into here so confident, and it turns out the only thing I can is Flipendo. I'm sorry too. I have a bad temper." She said, rather quickly.
She noticed another girl come and sit down, and she turned to her.
Chrissy, who had thought she would need to wait longer before being brought into the conversation, was slightly surprised at being addressed. Just as she opened her mouth to respond, her cat, Midnight, jumped into her lap, startling her. Chrissy laughed at how ridiculous she must have looked and tried to start over again,
"Right, hello! Sorry to interupt, but I was getting rather bored in the dorms, so I decided to see what everyone else was doing." Chrissy smiled brightly and turned to the girl who had greeted her, "I'm Chrissy Mathers, I don't think I've met you yet."\n\n
"No you haven't, I'm Jenna Foster." Jenna said, slightly startled at the presence of the cat. She was even more startled, however, when her own cat, Ginger, came streaking down the stairs and practically lunged herself at the cat who sat on Chrissy's lap.
"Ginger! You maniac, your gonna kill someone, never mind yourself. You violent cat." Jenna scolded her cat, then realised how silly she must have looked, so immediatly lifted her head to meet Chrissy's eyes.
Jenna, who had remained silent ever since Chrissy had come over, raised an eyebrow. So this girl was named Jenna too? And they were in the same house, now that was a coincidence.
"That's interesting, my name is Jenna also," smiled Jenna, "and we both talk to our cats. Mine is currently being a lazy little thing, though," she looked down at the little black cat asleep on her lap, "It's kind of freaky, isn't it?"\n\n
Chrissy had thrown herself flat against the chair she was sitting in while simultaniously clinging to her cat in order to protect him.
Then, as Jenna reprimanded her cat, Chrissy couldn't help but laugh. So far everyone had a cat, well accept Tally, who had a frog, but she was weird and didn't count.
"I think everyone talks to their animals. They're like people in a way. Anyway, it's going to be complicated in the dorms with two Jennas and I think there's a Jennifer as well." Chrissy said to both of them.\n\n
"Great, I'm going to have trouble remembering what my name is. No, bad cat!" She went from laughing to yelling in 2 seconds as her cat went for Jenna's again. She held him tightly, growling. "You dumb cat! How can you go from smart to stupid in 2 seconds! You know, I might have to send you home, get a nice white cat..." Ginger immediatly sat down on her lap, purring affectionatly. "There's something wrong with you..." Jenna muttered as she looked at Chrissy.
"Anyway, that's going to be hard to remember...at least I'm not the only one who talks to animals."\n\n
Jenna stared at her own cat, who was eying Jenna's black one. Jenna held on to her tightly. "Yes, it is rather scary...although you cat seems to be rather quiet. Really, I wouldn't mind a lazy cat. The change would be welcome actually..." Jenna said to Jenna, deciding that this might get rather confsing.\n\n
"Cats can be weird," nodded Jenna in agreement, "See, my cat, Thornmallow, is usually not this lazy. Usually he is finding some way to laugh at me. Or whatever it is that cats do..."
Suddenly her small kitten woke up, looked around at the situation taking place around him, got up and walked away. Now that was typical Thorny. Sighing and shaking her head, she wondered how they were going to distinguish between the Jens.
"Well, maybe we can make up some sort of nicknames or something. We'll figure out all these Jen problems," reassured Jenna.\n\n
0Jenna HMass chaos is... well not my specialty46Jenna H05
"Nicknames...that would be good." Jenna thought. Ginger pounced off her lap and walked after Jenna's cat. Oh well, Jenna thought, she's not doing anything wrong.
"Yes, that would be alot easier then Jen! No not you, Jen! No not you either! Jen! Thankyou...Yes, nicknames would be great...only problem is, I couldn't think up a decent nickname if my life depended on it." Jenna said to the other two.\n\n
Chrissy laughed as she watched the cats walk away while her fat cat, Midnight, stayed firmly in her lap. Obviously he was fat for a reason, exercise was not in his vocab.
"Well, I'm sure the nicknames will come easily. For now you cane be called Jenna 1 and Jenna 2 or we can just call you both by your last names? Or you guys can do something really funny or really stupid and be forever known by whatever it was that you did?" Chrissy said as she rambled. "Okay, so I'm officially glad my mom named me Chrissy." She said with a laugh\n\n
Jenna raised an eyebrow at Chrissy as she rambled and smiled, "If we get nicknamed for something we did stupid, I will be the first to name you for something you did stupid. I don't like the one and two thing either. Maybe we could do something with middle names? Mine's Bethany."
\n\n
0Jenna Hmaybe something with middle names?46Jenna H05
"Hey! I'm not the one who has the same name as you. Technically I wouldn't need a nickname. Besides, I already have a nickname, it's Chrissy. I don't need another one." Chrissy shuddered at the thought of her full name, Chrysanthemum. Her mom and her ridiculous obsession with those darn flowers when she had been pregnant with her. Chrissy had been over-joyed when her and Tally were old enough to talk, Tally couldn't say her full name and instead, called her Chrissy, the name stuck after that. Much to her mother's disappointment, who still called Chrissy by her real name.
"Bethany? Jenna Bethany Howard? I'm not sure if I care to call you Bethany, Jenna 2, do you have a better one?" Chrissy asked while giving Jenna H. a sly smile before sticking her tongue out at her.\n\n
Jenna narrowed her eyes at Chrissy, but it was all a joke so that was okay, "Ew, don't call me Bethany, never Bethany. Even I don't like it. I don't know, maybe we could do something with it?" suggested Jenna, "And if your nickname's Chrissy, what's your real first name." Jenna had to admit she was a little suprised that Chrissy was a nickname, even though she knew she shouldn't have been.\n\n
Chrissy sat motionless for a moment. She had never planned on ever telling anyone her real name. She knew the professors would undoubtedly know and the Headmistress, and anyone who knew her family, and Tally of course, but she never dreamed on actually having to say it out loud. In one quick mumbled breath, Chrissy sputtered,
"Chrysanthemum"\n\n
6ChrissyYou had to ask that question!47Chrissy05
Jenna stared at Chrissy. She hadn't heard what she had said, apparently she didn't like it very much, as it came out all quite jumbled. Jenna wondered how horrible her name could possible be?
"Sorry, Chrissy, didn't catch that. Could you say it again a bit more clearly?" asked Jenna, "it can't be that bad. I promise not to laugh or anything rude like that."\n\n
Chrissy shot Jenna an evil glare. Anyone who wanted to know her full name deserved such a glare. Chrissy took a deep breath and started all over again, slowly this time,
"My full name is Chrysanthemum Beveraly Mathers." Chrissy said before looking Jenna directly in the eye and daring her to laugh.\n\n
Jenna smirked at Chrissy's evil glare, staring straight back at her. In a game of wits, Jenna would not allow herself to be beat. Besides, her name wasn't all that bad, and Jenna almost liked it even.
"It's not that bad, really. I've a second cousin named Cornelia Frances Howard over at Hecate Academy, and another named William Edmund Howard III. Compared to that Chrysanthemum Beveraly Mathers is a very nice name, don't you think?" replied Jenna.\n\n
Chrissy goggled at Jenna and sputtered for a moment, unsure of what words to say to her. She actually thinks it's a good name? She must have inhaled too much potion mixtures or something! Chrissy thought before finally finding her voice,
"Are you insane? Chrysanthemum is not a good name! Okay, I will agree, Cornelia is pretty bad and being the III of anything makes you lose your individualism, but do you know how often I get poked fun of for being named after the golden flower? I mean, really!" Chrissy knew she was being overly dramatic, but when it came to her name, she just couldn't help herself.\n\n
Jenna smiled at Chrissy, or should she say, Chrysanthemum, "Although it is on the rare side, Chrysanthemums are used in quite a few potions, mostly for healing. Eduardo Del Aquima, my personal favorite alchemist discovered most of these uses. As a friend and as a potions geek, I would say that is a pretty decent thing to be named for."\n\n

Again, you've been smok..I mean, smelling something foul
by Chrysanthemum
Chrissy snorted while staring at Jenna oddly. After about five minutes of staring at Jenna and wondering where exactly this girl came from and what kind of childhood she had had, Chrissy burst into laughter. She laughed until her sides ached and still she laughed.
"Jenna, you are so weird. And I mean that with love."\n\n
6ChrysanthemumAgain, you've been smok..I mean, smelling something foul47Chrysanthemum05
Jenna stared at Chrissy as if she was the madly weird one, laughing like that. Jenna rolled her eyes when Chrissy called her weird. She had been called that before, while her siblings and/or cousins would tease her, or when some adult in the family would scold her. And also from two of the house elves in the home, who didn't like her very much. It must have had to do with the time they told on her when she stole a book from her father's library, so she explained in vivid detail how house elves would be cut up and used for potions in mideval times. Yes, that was probably it.
"Well, that's a first. Weird with love, usually it's weird with, well, annoyance or something similar," stated Jenna.\n\n
Jennifer, having heard her name come up, came up to join the conversation. As she was walking, the two girls, Jenna and Chrissy, she believed, moved onto the subject of names. Jennifer rolled her eyes.
"Chrysanthemum really isn't taht bad. They're like sacred to the hispanics, and are believed to be the flower of the dead. They're everywhere for Dia de los Muertos. And, as far as names go, I'm Jennifer Amelia Marie Nicole Sophia Andromeda Penelope Core Thalia Artemis Noire Zucherro.
"It's a thing in my mother's family to have at least 10 names, and my mom went a little haywire with mine. I think I have you guys beat. But, I really prefer Jennifer. May I join you guys?" she asked, smiling slightly.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Chrissy finally had her laughter under control and wiped the tears from her eyes. She hadn't laughed like that in a while and it had felt good. Rubbing her sides because they hurt, Chrissy caught her breath,
"No offense meant, of course. It's just...you are so full of weird knowledge, like, you've kept your nose in a book for your whole life or something. Not that there is anything wrong with that!" Chrissy hastily added, "I only know Quidditch and I'm happy with that. Well, now I know the knockback jinx, aquor, and whatever it was that we brew in potions, but still..." Chrissy didn't finish her train of thought because something Jenna had said finally registered in her head,
"Annoyance? That's a new one. My mom calls me a snot, if that helps. But then again, I do have a tendency to talk back to her so...I guess she's within her rights to do so." Chrissy said with a large white smile and her brown eyes still filled with tears of mirth that hadn't quite fallen yet.\n\n
"Don't worry, no offence taken," smiled Jenna. But truth be told (and she didn't want to tell) it did hurt a little, as it was true. Jenna had spent most of her life reading. She had always believed that books could take you places, and make you forget everything around you. And when Jenna wanted to be alone and to forget, or to just get up and leave her home, she would read. And from taht she had gotten her love of potions, and her knowledge of magical creatures, potions, herbology and the like.
It was then that Jenna noticed that her fellow Jenna was being quiet for most of their conversation, "Jen, are you okay?\n\n
I definitely have nothing to complain about
by Chrissy
Chrissy just stared at the girl with wide eyes. It took her a moment to find her voice and blink. Shaking her blonde curls in pure amazement that this girl, Jennifer, had survived this long in the world with that long of a name deserved some sort of reward or something.
"Damn, I mean, bloody hell, I mean, Merlin's beard!" Chrissy shook her head once again, "How long is your birth certificate? I mean, it's nice to meet you Jennifer with a billion names. I'm Chrysanthemum, and as far as I know I have no spanish in me. You can call me Chrissy. In fact, I prefer it if you did." Pointing to the chair opposite her, Chrissy smiled widely at her, "And please, do join us. I don't think I've ever had a conversation with four people with roughly the same names before. This ought to be fun."
OOC: You can just tack on a reply or continue on with just the normal flow of the conversation down at the bottom of this thread if you want. It might be easier for everyone that way, lol.\n\n

Jenna stared with wide eyes at Jennifer. She wasn't all to fond of her middle name, but Jennifer...she was surprised she could remember them all.
"Jeez...how do you remember all those names? I mean, I have two and I can hardly remember them. Jenna Betty Loraine Foster. And as for Chrysanthemum, I actually kind of like it. Very original. And yeah, sit. I've actually had a converation wiht 2 Jenna's and 3 Laura's, but oh well."
Jenna leaned back in her chair. It was nice to meet people in front of a roaring fire, desoite the fact that Jenna was almost sweating, she was so hot.

"Oh, I'm fine. And I'm with Jenna on this one. Weird with love...that's a new one. And Chrissy, your calling Jen weird, yet your the one who randomly burst out laughing you know." Jenna said to Chrissy, or Chrysanthemum, or whatever she wanted to be called.\n\n
"See? Jenna agrees with me. Chrysanthemum isn't such a bad name," said Jenna smugly, then looked to the other Jennifer, "And I also want to know how you remember all those names, it must be a real bother, having to know them all, and the order and everything."\n\n
Chrissy just shook her head at the girls, they just don't understand. They have normal names.
"Fine, fine. My name isn't that bad. I still would rather be called Chrissy. Besides, we haven't figured out what to call you guys. It'll be hard staying in our dorm room with all of you. I'm sure Danielle would agree with me on that one. If we ever see her that is." Chrissy paused and looked around the dorm hoping maybe to see the girl before turning back to them and addressing Jenna F.
"I laughed because Jenna always comes up with facts about stuff. It's cool, but I've never known anyone to be like that. It caught be off guard that's all. And yes, weird with love. None of you have ever said that?" Chrissy paused, she always said things like that, an insult but not really because she doesn't really mean it, "Maybe it's a New York thing. My family says stuff like that all the time, as does Tally's. Or maybe I really am just weird." Chrissy grinned happily, "Which is fine by mean, who wants to be the same as everyone else?"\n\n
Jennifer grinned. "WEll, Jennifer is different from Jenna, so I can probably keep my name. ANd I remember the order and all from the various times my mum or dad have scolded me. They're not all that hard to remember, after a while. Some of my couins' names are much worse, believe me."
She looked around at Jenna, Jenna, and Chrissy. She hadn't met many this year, and these three, who were in her house, seemed wonderful. She grinned again. "Weird with love. I like it, actually. And there's nothing wrong with being weird. I can rattle off random facts about almost anywhere, I've lived in so many places. Weird people are cool."\n\n
Jenna agreed with Chrissy and Jennifer. "Yes being weird is cool and fun. If you were just the same, what fun would that be? Being different rocks!" Jenna said the last part a bit to loudly, and blushed. "Oops, that was rather loud." She muttered.\n\n
