Owl for Jamie Park by Shinohara Uzume

It was that horrid year again, where all the girls were are trying to win over the fancy of the boys. The prospect itself just felt like a waste of time, perhaps it was because that upcoming December she would have to dance her way into the heart of her own suitor she thought to herself as she fitted her face with a reishi face mask. She took a moment to adjust the corners of the mask to fit her face better before laying down to continue her train of thought.

She liked to believe she had better things to do than go to balls or think about boys, but that was obviously not the case. Maybe I am just too intimidating for boys to ask to the ball, she pondered to herself with a smug smile. Aside from a few of her quidditch pals, she didn’t really feel like she had many close guy friends at Sonora- or at all for that matter. After all, I am beautiful, charming, and wise, she thought to herself confidently while she tried to understand her friendship shortcomings. She supposed she could be a little distant sometimes, maybe a little, but that was only if she didn’t know or care for the person.

Despite this, even Uzu knew if she didn’t do something soon, she would be one of the few girls staying home from the ball. Her stomach pulled in knots at the mere thought of staying in the dorm and packing alone. Being alone was never very enjoyable, especially when everyone else was off somewhere having fun. “I guess there is him,” she whispered to herself, tapping her face mask to help the absorbtion of the essence. She hadn’t talked to him really in what felt like ages. How would he respond now if she asked him to the ball all of a sudden.

“That little cretan would probably think I like him or something of the sort,” she sighed, really only half annoyed. But now that he was in her head, she couldn’t help but like the idea of him as her partner. He was quite infectious that way. After the 15 minutes had passed, she carefully peeled off her face mask, tossing it into the waste bin next to her desk. “I’ll do it!” she decided fresh faced and confident. Taking out a piece of parchment she sat down to write him a letter.

Jamie-kun,

It has been far too long since we have stirred up trouble. And although I could do so on my own, having someone else to enjoy the spectacle is always much more satisfiying.

So I have a proposition, attend the ball with me. We can do a new challenge this time.

It really has been too long.

Shino

She looked over her letter for a few minutes, satisfaction and eagerness curling her lips into a delicate smile. Taking a final breath, she folded the message and sent it off with an owl, happily awaiting his reply.
