Captain Rupert Princeton

August 11, 2014 3:03 PM
After Rupert had penned his reply of acceptance to Coach Olivers, he grabbed a fresh sheet of parchment to begin the sign-up sheet. There were positions already filled by the Anns and Adam. There were three positions, however, that were empty: Beater, Keeper and Seeker. Rupert wanted a full roster this year more than anything. Since his first year, Pecari had always had a full team. This year shouldn’t be any different, but Rup didn’t want to jump to any conclusions.

With a new Beater, Rupert wanted to spend time training him or her as well as he could. Attention would be spent on all the new Quidditch players, of course, but as he knew the Beater’s position the best, he would take the new Beater under his wing. He hoped the others would take the initiative to do the same, though Keeper and Seeker were positions that were slightly more independent. Rup liked new students and he hoped this year they would have a close-knit team. Andri and Jade’s rivalry the years before had dampened the team morale somewhat, though Rupert had tried not to let it affect him. This year he didn’t want anything like that to happen. A happy and well-trained team, after all, was a pleasant team to win with.

At the top of the sign-up sheet were block letters indicating it to be the Pecari Quidditch Team Sign-Ups. Underneath was the following:

Calling all Pecaris with a competitive spirit and an interest in Quidditch! Join the Pecari Quidditch team and help us win the Cup this year!
Sign your name, year and preferred position(s) below. Practises will be held twice weekly. Open try-outs will be held Saturday morning at 10 a.m. on the Quidditch pitch. If you have any questions, please seek out Captain Rupert Princeton or Assistant Captain Adam Spencer. Go Pecari!

The promised practises had yet to be set up, but the date for try-outs was going to be made official as soon as he got to the Quidditch pitch tomorrow before classes. He’d go and block out times for weekly practises as well as soon as he could. Below the paragraph, Rupert started the sign-up with his own name as an example:

Rupert Princeton (Captain), 6th, Beater

With the sign-up sheet done, the hour late and Adam having already gone to bed, Rup went and pinned the sheet onto the noticeboard. Satisfied, the energy that had kept him moving was expelled with a sigh and Rup dragged himself up to his dorm room, eager now for some shut-eye.

The Anns

August 11, 2014 3:50 PM
This year, Annabelle and Annette intended to actively attempt individualism, hoping it might finally end their magical co-dependence on each other when doing wand work. Also, they only had two years left before they were thrust out of the safety of Sonora and into The Real World where, presumably, they would find separate husbands and live in separate houses. This, as far as they were concerned, sounded like a punishment rather than the life goal many of their peers viewed it as, but there it was. If they were going to survive that, they needed to be able to do magic without each other physically present.

Some things, however, they would continue to do together, and Quidditch was one of them. They both enjoyed the sport very much and they were certain - by their experience first year - that it was better together than alone. However, within the team, they could make one more effort at individuality. With both Amira and now Jade graduated, the position of Seeker was finally unclaimed. As this was Annabelle's favorite position anyway, they thought they might break up their little Chaser block and let a younger student get in some experience there so that when they graduated Adam wasn't stuck with two complete newbies.

So onto the sign-up sheet, they wrote:

Annette Pierce, 6th Year, Chaser
Annabelle Pierce, 6th Year, Seeker (or Chaser)

Liliana Bannister

August 11, 2014 6:12 PM
As soon as Liliana woke up, she headed straight to the notice board. She was determined to be on the Quidditch team again, it having been an incredibly important part of her integration into the school during her first year. Last year she had missed it but understood why it had needed to be canceled. Instead, she had taken Atlas to the pitch and practiced with him as he'd shown interest in bettering his skills and getting out of Reserve. She smiled when she saw the sign-up sheet (as it hadn't been there before she went to bed the previous night), and put her name up- not even needing to look for her quill as she'd had it in her hand already before even walking up to the board.

"Liliana Bannister, 3rd year, Keeper" she wrote.

That having been done, she headed to breakfast, wondering what the Intermediate lessons would be like and if she'd be prepared enough to handle them. She was going to be in the younger year again which would at least provide some reassurance when she didn't make top of the class, but she wasn't sure how she was going to feel about the lesson level being bumped up- she'd only just gotten a hang of the Beginners lessons!

As she walked though, she shook her head to get rid of the horrible thoughts about school and began imagining what playing Quidditch again would be like. Surely it would be fantastic, she liked Adam well enough and thought the rest of them were also pretty nice. She wondered if Atlas would make it- not so much because he was her best friend but more because it would be a testament to her teaching. Lastly, she briefly thought of Theodore Wolseithcrafte, the Aladren Keeper who was her age and who was somewhat of interest to her, being from a respectable family, the same age, and the same position. Soon though all these jumbled thoughts left her head as she smelled cinnamon piping out from under the doors of Cascade Hall.

OOC: Just a friendly reminder, but Liliana was Keeper her first year- wasn't sure if you'd forgotten or not. I know what with the teachers being gone and Quidditch being cancelled and her being new it probably slipped under the radar.

Atlas Primred

August 18, 2014 2:04 PM
Atlas discovered late into this past summer, that sleeping was starting to become a second hobby for him. Unfortunately, with the start of school, it would be impossible to continue sleeping in as he was. Atlas awoke late, knowing full and well he only had about a half an hour to get ready for his class. He felt sluggish and tiered, despite the hours of sleep he had gotten. Dragging himself out of bed, he crept over to the bathroom to brush his teeth and get dressed.

Once he looked decent, he grabbed his old bag of school supplies and bounded down the stairs. With each step he made sure to thump his foot down in an effort to wake himself up. However once he realized that the quidditch posts would be up this morning, he more awake than ever. Immediately he ran over to the board, hoping to see the familiar paper, and there it was:

Calling all Pecaris with a competitive spirit and an interest in Quidditch! Join the Pecari Quidditch team and help us win the Cup this year!
Sign your name, year and preferred position(s) below. Practises will be held twice weekly. Open try-outs will be held Saturday morning at 10 a.m. on the Quidditch pitch. If you have any questions, please seek out Captain Rupert Princeton or Assistant Captain Adam Spencer. Go Pecari!

Atlas held his breath, he would finally get a chance to really try out for the team again. He hoped he wouldn't be stuck as an alternate again. Either way, he would be please to just play quidditch again. After the events of the pervious year, Atlas would be more than happy to have an uneventful year as long as he could play real games. Looking at the list, he noticed the Ann's and Liliana had already signed their names under Rupert.

"Liliana..." he sighed to himself. He wondered if he would ever be able to have an normal year with her as his friend. She was odd, well mannered, and annoying at times, but he supposed that's why they were friends. He was starting to wonder if his desire to play in games with her could be part of the reason he wanted to make the team so badly. However, he quickly pushed this idea out of his thoughts by lightly slapping his face. He assumed being so groggy this morning was impairing his thinking. After all, he wanted to play because he wanted to help the team win.

He looked at the clock in the Commons and noticed he had only 15 minutes before class. Atlas jumped and quickly began searching through his bag for a quill. He still had to eat breakfast so there was no more time this morning to be sluggish. Moving his hand to the bottom of the list, Atlas wrote in clear script:

Atlas Primred, 3rd, Beater

He felt a little awkward putting down a position, but it was the one he had practiced the most, finding it was pretty close to baseball. Plus he was feeling lucky, Liliana had helped him practice before, so maybe he might actually have a chance of getting off the bench. He would have liked to stay and daydream about the years possibilities, however his stomach reminded him that breakfast was a must. Placing his quill back into his bag, he ran off towards Cascade Hall. If he was fast enough he might actually get to eat something, and make it to his first class with a few minutes to spare.

Joella Curtis

August 21, 2014 5:27 AM
Joella woke up rather early to begin her first full day at Sonora Academy. Despite her bed being pleasantly comfortable, Joella hadn't slept particularly well. Her excitement about the next day being to great. She washed and dressed quickly, eager to get downstairs to Cascade Hall for breakfast.

On her way through the not yet familiar common room of Pecari house, Joella remembered something that made her stop in her tracks. Her head turned to the notice board, remembering Professor Olivers words the night before. Joella's eyes focussed one particular sheet. The Quidditch sign ups! Joella did, of course, know that it was not a first come first serve ideal. That would be ridiculous. However, she hurriedly emptied out the contents of her bag in search for a quill. Once she located her quill she took it to the parchment, scrawling:

Joella Curtis, 1st, Chaser

She noted the other sign ups but, as would be expected, recognised none of the names. She hoped competition would be too tough but maybe she could manage to make it into reserve position at least. It was only her first year at Sonora and reserve would be an honour.

After shoving her things back into her bag, Joella stood up, slung her bag over her shoulder, smiled at the sight of her own name on the Pecari Quidditch sign up sheet, and then left the room with the hope of remembering the way to Cascade Hall.

OOC: Apologies, I have forgotten how to do italics and could not find anywhere that gave instructions on it.
