Amira had received a letter from Coach Pierce via her owl, Boomer. She'd seen him before, while delivering letters to Sophie and all the other Captains before her, to tell them of their promotions to Captain from Assistant. Her heart thudded in her chest and her eyes widened. She knew it was coming, but now it came for HER...Oh Merlin's Beard... she thought as she opened it. this letter not only would promote her to Captain, but it would also recommend the next assistant. When she saw the name suggested, her heart plummeted. "Oh no..." she said with a moan.
Boomer flew off and Mir watched him retreat back to the Coach. She moaned again and just about cried with the name she saw written there. "Jade Owen?" she repeated, shaking her head. I need to talk to Sophie... she thought to herself, putting her head in her hands.
The door opened to the Pecari Common Room and Mir picked up her head just in time to see who was coming in. Who she saw made her frown turn upside down. "Sophie, have you got a minute? I'd really like to talk to you..." she said, hoping to all hopes that Sophie had a minute to give her some advice!
