As the year came to a close, Coach Amelia Pierce realized she had one final duty before the next Quidditch season could begin. Pecari was graduating its captain which meant a letter had to be sent out promoting the new captain.As he had done for all of the other new captains in recent years, Boomer the large eagle owl belonging to the Deputy Headmistress delivered it to Sophie Jamison in her common room. The outer envelope was good quality parchment and bore her name. The page inside was on official Boston Pierce letterhead (in as much as the Boston Pierces had letterhead; the top of the sheet read From the Desk of Coach Deputy Headmistress Amelia Pierce, Matriarch of the Boston Pierces and had been a gag gift from Three last Christmas).
Captain Sophia Jamison, it began, wasting no time in delivering the obvious promotion.
Congratulations! You will be the Pecari Captain beginning next year. As such, you will be responsible for putting up the sign-up sheet, holding try-outs and practices, and getting me the Pecari roster within the first month after term begins.
You will have an assistant captain to help you. Since you will have to work with them most closely, the final decision is up to you, but my recommendation is Amira Thornton. If you plan to promote someone else, please let me know before the summer. You may promote your assistant at any time before the try-out.

Sophie wasn’t altogether very surprised to see the large owl she’d come to learn was Coach Pierce’s with a letter addressed to her. She didn’t think she’d messed up being Assistant Captain enough to have the title of Captain denied to her. Quidditch hadn’t really been on her mind as term wound down, but thoughts of the sky and the rings were reborn in her mind. Captain Jamison had a nice ring to it, she felt.Her blue eyes scanned the suggested Assistant Captain’s name a couple times. So Coach Pierce thought Amira Thornton was a good choice? Sophie didn’t know her younger teammate particularly well—though no better or worse than the other youthful players—but she figured the coach had thought it through and had her reasons.
She grabbed a plain piece of parchment from her supplies—nowhere near as fancy as the coach’s, but whatever—and scribbled down a simple, I’ll let Amira know, thanks before sending it off with the big owl. Once it was on its way, she glanced around for her new
In not terribly long, she spied the younger Pecari. “Hey, Amira,” said the Englishwoman. “Just got my letter from Coach Pierce about me being Captain next term, y’know, since Mel is graduating.” The blonde grinned. “That means we need a new Assistant. That’ll be you, if you’re willing.” She couldn’t imagine her turning it down, but there was always a chance. Assistant Captain Thornton also had a nice sound to it.

Amira had just come back into the Common Room and she had been heading to her room when Sophie caught her. The Pecari looked at the older girl, a little confused at first as to what she may want from her. The season was over after all and they'd be going home for summer soon. But when Sophie spoke about having just gotten a letter from the Coach about her being Captain, Amira's heart fluttered inside her chest.The only reason she'd want to talk to me is if- she started before she saw the blonde's grin. Amira's eyes opened wider than dinner plates as Sophie spoke on.
Mira grinned from ear to ear and nodded emphatically. "Would I ever!" she said, excitement brimming over everything. HA! I've got it! I knew they saw how much I want Pecari to win! Pecari will WIN! We're going to see to it next year. The cup will be ours! she thought as she held out her hand to her new Captain to shake before she spoke.
"I have so many ideas of things we can do, stuff to try against the other houses. Oh, we're gonna win next year. You'll see!" she said as the thoughts ran around the hamster wheel of her brain.
