To Sara and Josephine by Fae Sinclair

Fae had decided to be a bit friendlier this year that she had in years previous. She wasn’t entirely sure why this was suddenly something of importance to her but figured it had something to do with all the upcoming parties and constant surrounding of people she was going to be thrust into that made her attempt to be more social towards her classmates. Shelby said it was always better to appear forthcoming and polite than distant and cold. Fae was hoping that she didn’t seem cold, but she didn’t want to take her chances. Besides, she wanted to give holiday cheer to her friends.

The school owl arrived in Pecari the morning the students were set to departure back home for the holidays. On these cards were the names of only two students; Sara Raines and Josephine Owen. These cards were generic, but Fae tried her best with them. Each card had a different holiday picture on it and included either a pair of knitted gloves or a scarf that Fae had knitted herself. The boys tended to have, blue, black, green, or red colors while the girls had pink, white, red, or purple.

Dear Josephine,

I am wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We haven’t been able to really work together this year, but I am glad to have gotten to know you. I hope my gift is to your liking. You are quite the artist, so I know my knitting isn’t nearly up to par, but it’s all I know how to do. I will keep my fingers crossed that you get all the gifts you wished for. Have a fantastic holiday!

Happy Holidays,
Fae

Dear Sara,

Merry Christmas! I really am hoping that you are going to be coming to one of the many holiday parties I will be attending. I do not know if I can really handle all of the boring endeavors without my closest friend by my side. Besides, who else will I be able to gossip to if you aren’t there?

I hope you enjoy your gift. You’ll have to let me know how your family feels about you being courted by Preston Stratford! I’ll probably be seeing him over midterm due to the betrothal and upcoming wedding, but maybe you’ll be with him?

Keep in touch and hopefully you’ll get everything you wish for during the holiday!

Happy Holidays,

Fae Fae
