Even though Mel had said that all positions were up for grabs, that didn't necessarily mean that she was going to switch up people's positions if they really worked well in those positions. She greatly appreciated the hard effort everyone put into their try-outs. Now, it was really down to skill and who she thought would work best where.A couple positions were easy. Obviously, herself and Elijah were the beaters. There was no question about that. The Quidditch captain was well aware of Elijah's desire to be the seeker, but, as she had been saying since she first saw him play, he was not seeker material. Besides, Mel really did love working with him last year. The beater section was strong, which was a good thing. Next, Sophie was obviously the keeper. The real problem was figuring out the seeker.
Jade was an awesome seeker for her age. No question about that. She stepped up to the plate last year unexpectedly and worked her butt off, getting good results. Amira did not put on a good performance in the past two years, but Mel couldn't help but notice how much she had improved. She seemed extremely determined to beat Jade and get the position. The eighteen-year-old even considered possibly putting her down as seeker--that was, until she proved to be an all-around decent player. If Amira was seeker, she'd probably still be crappier than Jade, but Jade would probably make the worst chaser ever. So, the answer soon became obvious during try-outs. Besides all that, Amira tried to start drama with Jade, and Mel freaking hated drama. If Amira tried to make any drama with Mel, she'd just beat the crap out of her. The strong captain really wasn't concerned with hurting people's feelings.
Feeling confident about the decisions she made regarding her team, Mel posted the list she wrote in her most legible handwriting on the bulletin board in the Pecari common room.
