As usual at the start of the second part of term, the students would arrive to find the noticeboard covered in signs, sheets, and notes. Among them was a large notice in bold, black lettering. Any student who looked closer would be able to read the following;
At the end of this term, Sonora Academy will be competing against Rocky Mountain International in a Muggle-style soccer tournament. We are looking for enthusiastic players to represent that school. No experience required. If you would like to try out, please sign your name and year below. If you would like to be considered as team coach, indicate this on your sign-up. If you have any queries, address them to Coach Pierce.

Starbuck was on cloud nine since returning to school, Farrah and her for the lack of a better word were dating. The second year didn’t know much about dating, just that it wasn’t suppose to be between two girls. But she liked Farrah, more then she liked Frankie, and she didn’t care what anyone thought. She breezed into the commons rooms with a small smile on her face.
She looked over the notice board to see if anything interesting was going on this term when she read that a Soccer Tournament was going to happen between Sonora and Rocky Mountain International.
This was exiting! Starbuck loved soccer and she had always wanted to know more about Rocky Mountain International it seemed it combined the best of both worlds. She grinned as she pulled out her quill and singed up.

Jose returned from an excellent midterm spent with both sides of his family, as midterms had recently been spent in the California Pierce caravan. The Hernandezes had once more hosted the whole clan in their home and yard, and both sides had attempted to communicate with each other using a strange mixed language that was two parts English, two parts Spanish, and one part charades.
Jose was getting a lot better at it.
The lack of Spanish was still a bit of a change after hearing it everywhere he went for two weeks, but he'd only attempted to greet two or three people with an 'Hola! How was tu Navidad?' since returning.
Of course, seeing the signs and bulletins on the board, he was glad it was all in English, otherwise he might have missed the one about soccer try-outs. That would have been a tradgedy. He hadn't been able to play much since he started at Sonora. Kicking a ball around with the Hernandez cousins had been fun, but it wasn't the same as a real game. Not like he'd played back in his muggle school.
Jose Hernandez, third year he wrote, underneath Starbuck's name. He considered volunteering to coach, but decided Pecari's Quidditch team was more than enough coaching for him.
This was going to be awesome. Soccer, and RMI again!

Most people still seemed to have half their thoughts stuck on Midterm, but Neal was not one of those people. While he’s the first person to admit he has some sort of problem staying focused on one thing for too long (that’s what his parents and elementary school teachers told him anyways) his mindset had been back on school the day he came back on campus. And, if the latest sign-up sheet was any indication, he now had one more thing to focus on: football. Well, his mom called it football, his dad was the only one in his immediate family to think of calling the sport soccer. Football was the term Neal preferred over soccer since it was more commonly known as that all over the world. Whatever reasons America decided to give the sport a different word was something curious – he’d be sure to check into that one day, if he remembered.
Neal read the notice carefully, and decided that he seemed to fit the bill. He wasn’t exactly the most enthusiastic person in the world, but he knew a thing or two about the sport. The only issue he was concerned with was the age difference. If he thought it was a problem in Quidditch it would certainly be a problem here.
He found himself smiling over it. Excellent, it would be a risk to do it then! Quidditch was only as fun as it had been because of the diverse people playing. It was more exciting to not know just how experienced the people you were up against were, and Neal loved nothing more than to undertake challenges.
Pleased to see Jose and Starbuck on the list, Neal added his name below the Quidditch captain’s.

Demelza's ADHD was acting waayyyy out of control today, and a sign-up sheet for soccer didn't help. Soccer! Soccer! Awesome!! Demelza bounced over to it, and was even more excited to see that the purpose of the soccer sign-up sheet was that Sonora was going to play Rocky Mountain International in soccer! Cool, that meant that Demelza would get to play Paul and see Kat! Demelza was so excited about the whole thing that she immediately grabbed her self-inking quill. She was good enough at soccer, having played a little bot of it with her brothers, so it would be no sweat for her! She didn't want to sign up under captain, however, because she had a Quidditch team to worry about already, and Starbuck would probably just hate her even more if she got Captain. In her very messy, "chicken scratch" handwriting, Demelza signed herself up.
