So long... or snow long, as is more accurate by Elly Eriksson

A great deal of thought had been put into midterm. Elly had finally decided that she would go 'home' - that is, she would leave Sonora for the holiday. Of course she didn't technically have a 'home' to go to. So she would visit her mother and cousins in Austria, and fly back to Surrey to see her Grandmother, too - hopefully her Dad would meet her there. Unusually, this would mean Elly would spend the entire holiday without using magic at all. Often she'd Floo around, or visit friends with magical relatives. This time it would be back to Muggle, and Elly was, in a way, quite excited about that.

A great deal of thought had also been put into the midterm prank. It was customary (perhaps even expected by now) that Elly would execute a prank to signal the end of a school semester. Of course with work, clubs, Quidditch, etc., free time had been at its lowest yet (CATS revision time excluded). While Elly did have some good ideas and had located some fabulous spells, she'd yet to perfect anything to a suitable standard. Besides, providing the midsummer activities were continuing as planned, there was going to be a bonfire at the end of the year. Elly could think of some fantastic pranks for that.

All things considered, Elly believed that she would be forgiven a lame midterm prank, as long as her end of year prank was of epic proportions. So, setting herself high standards for the end of the year, Elly left a very simple display for midterm. In fact, it was a spell she'd used before: she made it snow in the Pecari Commons. Not real snow, but just an illusion, which fell from the ceiling and melted before it hit the floor. Though when she'd tried the spell in her first year, the snow had only been in one particular patch, and only lasted for one day. This time, the snow covered the vast majority of the Common Room, and would last at least an entire week.
