Walking the First Years to their First Class by Saul The Guide
"First years!" Saul called the morning of the first day of classes. Though a Seventh Year now and therefore one of the tallest people in the House, he still stood on one of the Common Room's coffee tables as he tried to gather in the new students. His Prefect badge was easily visible, and so was his Quidditch Captain badge. The former somewhat covered the patch that declared he was a Pecari, but he doubted many people needed to see that anymore to know what House he belonged to. "First years, the Guided Tour to your Potions Class will begin in five minutes, please gather here if you'd like to join."He grinned as he began to get some comers, and started handing out the maps he'd drawn up a few years ago. "This is the school. I've marked the important places off, like the classrooms, the Cascade Hall, the suit of armor that guards our Commons, the bush that looks like my uncle, and the Quidditch Pitch." This was a map for Pecaris, and Saul had been the map's creator, so the Library had only been labeled 'Oscar's Domain - Beware of Cat'. Unlike the first year he'd made the maps, these were actually close to accurate.
"Today, you'll be starting with Potions. Last year, we had a Sub, so I don't know who you'll have teaching you now. But I haven't seen anybody get blown up yet, even when Professor Schmitt was teaching it, so you should be all right." He noticed a couple more younger kids wander into the common room. He called out to them, "First Years! Guided Tour to Potions starts here!"
He grinned at the lot. "I'm Saul, Saul the Guide. If you've got any questions, I'm always around somewhere. Just come over and ask. While we wait to see if anyone else is going to join us, do any of you have any questions now? Day one, guys, you've got to be wondering something. Speak up. Ask me something or I'll tell you about the Corridor Ride."
Once he'd answered a few questions and the time had come that they had to leave or risk being late, he hopped off the coffee table, and waved for everyone to follow him out of the Pecari Commons. "We're heading back toward the school. I'll bring us by the Garden clearing where Comec - that's C.O.M.C. or Care of Magical Creatures - we'll be going by where that class is taught." He waited for everyone to follow him out into the Gardens and started heading out in that direction.
"I'll also point out the other classrooms that we pass on the way, so you know where to go when you get to them. Sonora's a little confusing at first, but you'll get used to it pretty fast. Oh!" he pointed out a swing large enough for two or three first years to sit on at once, hanging from the branch of a tree as they passed by it, "That's known as Elly's Swing. Anyone's welcome to use it."
OOC: So basically, Saul's giving ya'll a chance to ask him questions if you'd like. You don't have to reply here to be part of the tour; you can just say he led you over to your Potions class. He'll get you there just barely on time. Second years are welcome if they want to tag along.
