'Allo? [tag: Elly, Meredith, Caedence] by Echo Elms

Echo stood at the entrance to the girl's dorm, looking up the hall, wondering. He had been back a whole hour and hadn't seen his other two-thirds yet. Were they in girl land, or were they somewhere else?

And why was there going to be a Ball in the Spring? He couldn't think of anything that could possibly make his life more awkward right now. To begin with, to go or not to go? It promised to be crowded. Someone might ask him to dance that would require... there was no way he could ask anyone to go with him. What if he got stuck in a corner and couldn't find a way out? What if they expected him to dance. What if he started shaking and couldn't stop the whole time? It'd be awful.

But what if Elly went with someone else? Did he really, seriously think he could handle that scenario?

It was too early to worry about it. It wasn't for months, and there was Novelling Fury! in between, a much more pressing concern.

"ELLY! MEREDITH!" he called up, and jumped out of the way as someone else came down, "CAEDENCE!"

He triple checked to make sure he had all the presents and knew whose was whose. The red bag was for Caedence, the dark green for Meredith, and the light green for Elly.

OOC: I hate to leave this hanging while I actually have time to post so I’m going to answer with the most minor assumptions as I can like Danae ran off with her boyfriend *grin* and I’m not sure where Caedence is. So, moving right along…

BIC: Not long back and Mere already felt like things were nicely settling back into the norm of Sonora. Back to being with her friends and doing things she loved. She still had more gifts and goody bags to give out after Elly and Danae’s and she had to find Matt to thank him for his gift. She thought her enthused leap-hug had shown her gratitude to Elly well enough for the wonderful picture frame. It was made all the better with the picture of her, Elly and Echo inside. Something about it made her recall when the three of them first met in Cascade Hall two and a half years ago. It was just a quick flash back memory that led to a laugh. She sat the frame in between her gorgeous horse and Pence and Dot’s cage. A sudden call from outside made Mere smile again.

“I think Echo might be looking for us. I’m not a hundred percent sure, but I’ve got a hunch.” She grinned at Elly. Of course he was looking for them. He was practically using the Elly yell from down the hall.

Meredith went into her suitcase once again and searched for the flatter wrapping of dancing elves and another bumpy package. She picked them up along with two goody bags and the moment Elly was ready she hurried out the door with the packages tucked under her arm and baggies in hand. Elly had already received her gift. Mere's favorite part about the snitch-designed bouncing ball was that the wings only looked painted when the ball was held or was hitting the ground. When it was airborne, the wings extended and flapped so the ball went in a direction you didn’t quite expect it to. She thought it was fitting for her seeker friend.

Echo wasn’t a Quidditch player, but she knew what he liked to do. In fact, she planned on joining him and Elly that year for the Novelling Fury. It looked like fun. A different kind of fun than one might expect from Meredith who could barely sit still for a meal let alone to write a story, but fun nonetheless. And since it was pretty much Echo’s club, he ought to have something special to write in. She bought him two notebooks, one red and one green. Each one was decorated loudly with color (it certainly wouldn’t be hard to guess who gave it to him) and each one bore the title ‘Novelling Fury!’ in bold letters. She hoped he liked them.

“Hey Echo!” Mere waved as she caught up to him. “This is for you. Merry Christmas!” She handed him the flatter package with one of the goody bags on top. “Had a good break?”

Along with that warm and fuzzy feeling. by Elly Eriksson

OOC: I have likewise tried to leave this open to allow the thread in the girls’ dormitory to play out.

BIC:
After a while of renewed greetings and exchanging of presents between the girls, Elly was the happiest she could remember being for a long while. This was even better than finding the treats in the Labyrinth! She still had more gifts to give out, though, and it sounded like one intended recipient was already seeking her.

“I think Echo might be looking for us. I’m not a hundred percent sure, but I’ve got a hunch,” Mere said, and Elly laughed.

The girls both sought out more gifts before heading out of their room. Elly took her gifts for Echo, Saul and Matt, just in case she ran into either of the other two boys. For Echo, Elly had made another photograph frame. Instead of blue ribbon, Echo’s frame was decorated with holly leaves from the gardens, upon which Elly had cast an ever-bloom charm, which she hoped would at least last ’til the summer. As with Meredith’s frame, Elly had inserted one of the photographs of the three of them taken last midterm at Mere’s house.

For Saul, Elly had used a combination of smooth sticks and stiff parchment to fashion a rectangular pencil pot, held together by a medley of sticking charms and double sided tape (a roll of which Elly had found under Mere’s bed, and promptly replaced in there afterwards). To demonstrate its intended use, she’d even put a couple of biros in the pot. It was perhaps the least well finished of all her handcrafted gifts, but it did at least look neat.

Matt had proved extremely difficult to find a present for, because although Elly liked him, not least because he was always fun and easy to talk to, she found, as with Danae, she didn’t really know him very well. She did guess that he wouldn’t like a flowery bookmark, though. So instead of making a present for Matt, as she had done for her other friends, Elly had recycled a present she had received herself. Within the box of gifts her mother’s family in Austria had sent her, there were two boxes of Lebkuchen, traditional Austrian gingerbread cookies. Elly decided to keep one for herself, but she’d tied a ribbon round the other and put it aside for Matt. It wasn't nearly as fabulous as the Mexcian sun-thing he'd given her, but they were good tasting cookies.

Considering she had been at school over midterm and therefore unable to shop for gifts, Elly was rather impressed with her ingenuity at producing fairly decent presents for her friends. She was yet further impressed by the presents she had received herself. The snow globe from Danae was beautiful, and Elly had aptly expressed her appreciation of Mere’s Snitch-ball gift by hugging her and squealing thanks in an incredibly excited fashion. The excitement had not yet worn off – still laughing at Meredith, and with her arms full of presents, Elly ran down the stairs to see Echo.

“Happy late Christmas!” she yelled as she met him, throwing the arm that wasn’t holding gifts around him in a quick hug. She hastily withdrew her arm though to catch the falling presents, managing to scoop them all back up again before they hit the floor. “That was close,” she laughed, as Mere was passing over a beautifully wrapped package to Echo. Elly waited for him to unwrap Merry’s gift before she passed over her own, which was not wrapped at all.

And hugs? by Caedence Redoak

OOC: Yay for keeping the thread open! I have endeavored to do so myself.

Caedence heard Echo’s call and looked up. Meredith joked with Elly that Echo just might be looking for them. Caedence smirked. She hadn’t thought to get Echo anything really. But she was sure she could find something that she didn’t want, a sort of white elephant present, to give to him. She ruffled through her belongings, knowing that Meredith and Elly were probably through with giving him his presents. Finally she found a bottle of color changing ink. She shrugged and dug a little deeper. A bunch of blue and green tye-dyed parchment… ah hah! And a blue quill made from a macaw. It seemed pretty good. Gathering them all up and tying one of her white ribbons around it, to make it look like something bought from a store.

She hurried down the stairs in time to see Elly passing her present over. Caedence felt proud that she had scrounged up this nice present. However, seeing Meredith’s present, she felt somewhat of a copy cat. Her face slipped into a frown, and her brow furrowed. What did Echo want anyways? Surely not company.

“Hi Echo…” She grunted shoving her present at him, careful not to touch him. “Looking like Santa there Elly,” she teased noticing Elly’s armful of gifts.

She looked back at Echo. “So, oh twitchy one,” she said with a mild expression, “Surely you didn’t miss us all? What is the occasion of the quiet kid going all Elly on us\n

“So, oh twitchy one,” she said with a mild expression, “Surely you didn’t miss us all? What is the occasion of the quiet kid going all Elly on us?"

"Presents!" Echo replied, grinning and holding up the gift bags. He hadn't gotten a chance to give them out yet, since Elly and Meredith had wasted no time in giving him neatly wrapped packages and wishing him a Belated Merry Christmas. He even surprised himself by not dropping everything or freaking out, but just saying, Whoa, hi, with a nervous grin when Elly hugged him. His heart started up its own private concert in his ears, but it was a one hit wonder and the band lost interest after 3 minutes and 20 seconds.

"This one's for you," he said, handing over Meredith's green bag. It was decorated with snowflakes. Picking out the bags was much easier than the presents. Finally, he had given up, deciding that if he bought games, the results would be fun even enough to make up for any lack of personal-ness. For Meredith he'd gotten Man Bites Dog, a game where you make up news headlines. For Elly, Catch Phrase, a game where you have a certain amount of time to get your team to guess a given word. And for Caedence, Worst Case Scenario because for some reason it seemed fitting and it was on sale. He handed these other two out as well.

"Happy Winter Holiday!" he added.

Now that his hands were free, he could open his gifts from Elly and Meredith. Caedence's didn't need to be opened, because it just had a bow. It was a bottle of disappearing ink--"very cool"--and some parchment. He thanked her and put off trying it out to see if it really disappeared long enough to open up two Novelling Fury! notebooks from Meredith--"Nice!"--and a photo frame with a picture of their trio from Elly. "Hey, I'd wondered what happened to these!" he said of the picture and grinned at all of them, "Thanks, guys!"

OOC - apologies by Echo

My last post has a few inconsistencies with previous posts about when people give the presents and when presents are opened by who. Echo's reactions are the same whenever he opened them, it's just my timing that's off. Sorry about that.

S'ok, no worries. by Elly

Smiling like a lunatic, Elly accepted her gift from Echo, and watched him receive his gift from her with equal delight. “I’ve stuck some up in the girls’ room,” Elly told Echo in reference to the photos form midterm, “but obviously you wouldn’t know that,” she laughed. “Glad you like it.”

Turning her attention back to her own present, Elly pulled the package from the bag and read the title of the game. “Oh excellent!” she exclaimed. “Thanks, Echo!” If only she’d had this gift before midterm she mightn’t have been so painfully bored in the hours when she wasn’t eating or sleeping. On the other hand, she had managed to get all of her midterm homework done (which was a first) and there weren’t many people around to play with anyway.

It wasn’t long before Elly noticed that Echo had given the other girls games, too. “Echo, you’re a genius,” she told him. “Never a dull moment in the Pecari commons from now on,” she laughed. Having her friends back after midterm was so much fun!

“Oh, I’ve got presents here for Matt and Saul,” Elly said, indicating the other gifts that had somewhat hampered her present giving and receiving since leaving her dormitory. “You haven’t seen them have you?”
