If there was one thing for certain- at least in the mind of Amy Fox- Quidditch took precedence above all else. One must live and breathe it in order to succeed. Of course, doing so could, at times, tend to make one go a little too far- such as in her case- but that was besides the point.
The fact that Amy was still stuck in this godforsaken school tended to put a giant damper on things. But- she had to constantly remind herself- she was starting to get used to the routine. She was beginning to recognize each team's captain and she also noted that each was now getting close to their seventh year- the captains either fifth or sixth years- and thus they needed someone to follow in their footsteps.
After finally making a decision, an Assistant Captain was appointed for each team. A note was tied onto the legs of four owls, each being sent to a Head of House.
Marian - read the letter to the Pecari Head of House,
Please inform Saul Pierce that he has been selected as the Assistant Captain for Pecari's Quidditch team.
Marian had been slightly surprised by Amy’s owl. Generally, she stayed out of quidditch-related matters entirely, so had little, if any, reason to talk to Amy at all, beyond the whole ‘fellow staff members’ bond. She usually just let the Craven’s handle things, which they did remarkably well.
However, she was the authority figure, so telling her to tell Saul made a bit of sense. She did agree with Amy’s choice for assistant captain, in any case. He’d seemed like the type that would do well in such a position, and would probably have no difficulty not taking anything they might say or do too badly.
Marian got out a quill and a few scrolls of parchment to write and tell the twins and Saul to come down, and then paused. Realistically, there was no reason for her to actually be the one to tell Saul, as long as the news got across. And she had a feeling it would come better from his two captains than her, particularly when said captains would be finding it out at the same time. So she put one of the pieces of parchment back, and quickly scrawled two nearly identical notes on the others before attaching them to her owl and sending him off.
Dear Sorrel/Ash Craven they read.
I have just been informed that Coach Fox has selected Saul Pierce to be your assistant captain on the quidditch team. If you would be so kind as to let him know as soon as possible, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Professor Connell
