Second year girls dorm by Caedence Redoak

Caedence had went over to her bed, pleased to see that someone had already put all her stuff on it for her. She opened the smallest trunk, which held her schoolbooks, and put them all into her bag. Tucked away in the corner of her trunk was her black wand pouch. She sighed, remembering teh girl who gave it to her.

Elly was the first person to ever try and be Caedence's friend. It was shaky, she would admit, but they had eventually decided to become friends. She sighed. Her father wouldn't allow her to get an owl, so that she could send letters to Elly. She growled under her breath, remembering the dismal summer that she had.

She started to unpack some other things. Her beaters gloves first, which she donned with relish. Then she got out a new alarm clock. She would, of course, never use it, but it was good to have one. Then she tacked up three out of the ten posters depicting Quidditch's Best Bludger Hits. She smiled. She was often on the recieving end of a bludger last year. Well, she was determined to change that! That is, if the Cravens would let her back on the team. She wasn't sure that they would after the terrible loss her team took at the championship!

The opening door brought her attention back to the present. "Hey," she said evenly looking at the person entering. \n\n

Mind if I join you? by Elly Eriksson

Elly was on a natural high. Coming back to Sonora was even more amazing than coming for the first time. The nervousness was absent, and there were friendly faces everywhere. Elly knew that her second year was going to be just as fabulous as her first, perhaps even more so.

The Opening Feast had been great – Elly had been reunited with Meredith and Echo, and Echo’s friend Brett had come to Sonora, too, shocking both of them. Apparently this was going to be one ‘crazy weirdo’ year. Elly believed it.

So she was practically skipping as she headed up to the second year girls’ dorm to fling off her robes and maybe find a hair elastic – her mad orange curls were trying to take over again. She opened the door to discover that someone was already in there.

“Hey,” Caedence said.

“Hey,” Elly replied. She noticed that Caedence had already started unpacking, and she didn’t seem to be in a very good mood. Elly didn’t understand that – surely being back at Sonora was just the best? Maybe something had happened over the holiday to make Caedence upset. “Is everything alright?” Elly asked, perching on the end of her own bed to face Caedence.

And why would I say no to that? by Caedence

"I..um.. nothing really, bad summer is all," Caedence half shrugged. This was her friend, but Caedence didn't know if she should tell. A small battle raged inside of her. Finally she decided on telling part of her problems.

"Mom was just...well anoying to say the least. Dont get me started on father. And the local kids were having fun trying to beat 'the sting'. Did I ever tell you, that's what the muggle kids call me because of my braid. But that really isn't importiant. It just wasn't fun, and father wouldn't let me buy an owl to get letters to you. He seemed to think it was too 'magical' of an animal. Idiot..." she faded off.

"Those new first years are clumsy people. I had a girl spill her drink on herself and then spill mine! And to top it off, some stupid boy tried to flirt with me. And he had the nerve to say that I was like a 'starved Hungarian Horntail' Honestly!" she said going into the troubles at the feast.

"Ahh, enough about my life, what was your summer like Elly?" She said at last.

OOC: Good news! I stole your name for my fanfiction! ^_^ Lol, if you want i can change it, though\n\n

Moving to the common room: Where are u ppl? by Elly

Elly had guessed right; it sounded like Caedence had an awful summer. Elly felt terrible for her. Sure, she’d had to endure her mother for two months, but at least she’d seen her father too, and her Grandmother, and she’d had great times with the hockey girls. She bit her lip as she listened to Caedence detail her dreadful summer. Even if Elly’s summer had been worse, she had at least received letters from Meredith and e-mails from Echo, whereas by the sound of it Caedence hadn’t been in touch with anyone. Elly felt a bit guilty, and all she could do was sit there and look sympathetic.

However, when Caedence called the new first years clumsy, and mentioned juice spilling, Elly couldn’t help but burst out laughing. “That’s just what I did on my first day!” she exclaimed happily. “Except I spilled mine all over Echo. You didn’t hurt her, did you Caedence?” Elly mock-scolded her friend.

“What was your summer like, Elly?” Caedence asked.

“Ah, well it was okay,” Elly said. “My Mum was as weird as ever, but it wasn’t so bad. I played hockey,” she said, shrugging. “Listen Caedence, Meredith and Echo are waiting for me in the common room.” Elly stood up and threw off her robes, revealing the denim cut-offs and navy vest top underneath. “Come down, okay? I’ll tell you about my summer and we’ll have fun. I promise.” Elly grinned at her friend and headed back down to the common room. She only felt a tiny bit guilty for leaving Caedence, who was obviously in need of company, but by joining them in the common room then Caedence would have lots of company, so it was her choice.

Elly skipped down the stairs and, reaching the crowded room, peered over heads, looking for her best friends. She hadn’t found her hair elastic so her orange curls were just everywhere as she turned her head in searching for Meredith or Echo, or even Brett. “Why is this common room always so full when I’m trying to find people?” she said aloud, to nobody in particular.

OOC: Yay! I don't object in the least, I'm happy for you to steal my name for your fanfic :) You'll have to tell me where I can read it.

Okay, now we're in the commons! C'mon and join us! by Caedence

Caedence scowled a bit at Elly's sympathetic gaze. She didn't need, nor really want, sympathy. Her face softened a bit, however. It wasn't like her friend was out to pity everyone, she just was nice. Caedence took note: people who are nice pity people. Like she'd ever be nicer to nice people, but it was good to know. She was certian that Elly would be her one, and only, friend. "I didn't hurt her, just yelled." Caedence half-joked back. It was truith, but she said it in a light joking way.

Listen Caedence, Meredith and Echo are waiting for me in the common room. Come down okay? I'll tell you about my summer and we'll have fun. I promise. Caedence stared after her retreating back. She stayed on her bed for a while watching the door. We'll have fun. I promise. What did she mean by that? Did she think that Caedence needed companions? Or was it just a simple request?

Well, finally she decided to walk down to the commons. She found Elly looking for Echo and Meredith. "Need help finding them?" she asked from behind Elly, "I shout loud, I can make myself heard over the noise. Want me to?"\n\n

Really, anyone, feel free to join in. by Elly

“Need help fining them?” said a voice behind Elly’s ear. She turned and her face split into a grin as she saw that Caedence had decided to join her. Elly knew that Echo wasn’t very fond of Caedence, but that was probably because they hadn’t really had chance to bond. She guessed that they would both make an effort for her sake, anyway – friends were excellent like that. Though Elly still couldn’t see Echo or Meredith – the common room was so full of people! It was probably because they were all catching up after the summer away. “I shout loud, I can make myself heard over the noise. Want me to?” Caedence offered.

“It’s alright,” Elly said, laughing. “I’m not so quiet myself.” Shouting had never failed to provide Elly with a suitable response so far, so she had no reason to stop doing it. Nobody had ever complained to her about it, either. After a quick mischievous grin to Caedence, Elly turned back to face the common room and took a deep breath.

“HAS ANYONE SEEN MERE OR ECHO?” she bellowed.

Elly just smiled at anyone who turned to glare at her. If they had a problem with her, let them speak now, and she’d smile until they liked her again.

I take it I can join since my name was called. by Meredith

Meredith started to follow Elly back to the common room, but the girl, having longer legs and being very excited as she tended to be, got ahead of her. Meredith started hurrying to catch up, but then Echo would be left behind. She didn’t think of that until both were already out of sight. When Meredith got to the common room, Elly was lost either in the crowd or in their new dormitory. Meredith was sure she’d see her if she was in the common room since the girl was pretty easy to pick from a crowd, but didn’t see her there. It would be a bit of a fight to get to the other side of the room where the stairs were.

Meredith decided to wait a little while to let Echo catch up. She was sure he’d want to hurry since his friend had probably come with Professor Connell like the other first years. But a few minutes later Elly made herself heard to Meredith, and the entire common room for that matter. Meredith looked at the stairs and saw her friend standing there with Caedence. She bit her bottom lip laughing quietly and made her way towards Elly and Caedence.

“Mere’s right here. Elly, you might want to yell a little louder next time. I don’t think they heard you in Australia.” She laughed and took a quick glance around the common room. “I lost track of Echo, but he’s probably with Brett so he should be coming. I’m sure he heard you.” She looked to the other girl. “Hey Caedence. Good summer?” Meredith smiled at her other roommate.

After seeing Elly, Meredith had a thought. Still paying attention if Caedence was going to answer her, she took out her hair tie that held her stumpy ponytail and ran her hands through her blonde hair a bit, loosening it from the grip of the elastic ponytail holder. She wasn’t sure exactly why she put her short hair up in a ponytail sometimes. It was almost out of habit though some days the weather was hot enough that she didn’t want anything touching her neck even the ends of her hair. It was hot when she left Nashville, but since it was evening in Arizona and she thought there might’ve been some magical help too, it was a little cooler.

She held the hair tie out to Elly whose curly hair was out and all over. She had a look that was asking if Elly wanted to use it. She didn’t have to, but she looked like she might want to borrow it.

OOC: By the way Elly, I finally got to answering in Cascade Hall. Just thought I should let you know in case you wanted to go back. *grin*\n\n

Sorry, not a chance of getting through. by Echo Elms

The common room was full of people. This was a really big problem. At first, Echo had tried to follow Meredith and Elly but they'd disappeared pretty quickly in to the crowd and Brett had gone off to meet his roommates, and Echo found himself surrounded, with people pressing up against him from all directions. He was proud of himself for not crumpling down right there and screaming. It was an act of mad will. A major public freakout was not just what he needed in his first week back, or ever.

He'd barely made it to a clear spot, pocketed between the wall and one of the common room chairs. There was no way he was going to reach his own dorm from here without bumping into anyone else, much less find Meredith and Elly. The common room was just not big enough for the entire Pecari House to mingle in without bumping elbows.

By the time he heard the unmistakeable shout of Elly Eriksson, Echo's hands were still shaking but his heart rate was beginning to return to normal. If no one was sitting on the chair he'd have stood on it to look over that way and wave, but that wasn't the case.

"Sorry, Elly," he thought. Ducking through the crowd again was not on the top of his list of things he wanted to do right now. He was stuck right where he was, and he wasn't moving until people cleared out.\n\n
