Happy birthday to me? by Ginger Silverstein

Ginger was woken up by a beak lightly tapping on her nose. She opened her eyes, and saw the owl that her mother bought. Her family tried to get accustomed to the wizarding world as much as possible, so they bought an owl as soon as they found out how magical folk exchanged letters. Ginger sat up after she stretched for a while. There were a small pile of packages beside her bed.

She remembered that it was her birthday. Ginger did look forward to her birthday, but she didn't really mind it. She wouldn't get upset if she never had birthdays. However, the packages from all of her family put her in a very good mood. It wasn't really the presents that Ginger liked about her birthday, it was the fact that she was around her family. The good side of her family anyway. Ginger had recently got a letter from her mother saying that her grandma on her father's side disowned them because of Ginger being a witch.

She got up, and opened her packages. She got a couple new outfits, with a list of games that she got. Her mother remembered ther Ginger told her that electronics didn't work. There was no point in sending her a game where she couldn't play it. She smiled when she saw "Kingdom Hearts 2" on the list.

After she got dressed in her new outfit, a new pair of jean and a black shirt with tinker bell on it.

She still had her happy bunny slippers on that said "Hating you makes me feel all warm inside." She walked into the common room, and curled up on a chair. \n\n

Happy Birthday. Huh. by Eduard Grimaud

Grim entered the common room just as Ginger came in with a content look on her face. His evident morning hair, wild and black, with a slice of blonde, did nothing to compliment his face, which was generally quite dour. The sight of Ginger, made that face go from dour to tense, his eybrows furrowed as he took in her new ensemble. After shopping in Paris with his family on the Champs Elysee, her outfit of fairy shirt and jeans, looked positively erroneous in the brooding atmosphere of the common room.

He had to smile though, when he saw her slippers. 'Hating you makes me feel all warm inside.' How very true. He supressed that smile with a scowl and sat down in the very furthest chair away from Ginger, with a high back, that made him look quite dangerous. He didn't care if she had seen him or not.

He practiced his death stares on her while she was curled up in the chair. Girls plainly annoyed him. He was yet to meet one that did not. He wondered if he would get a response if he changed her slippers into mexican dancing boots. Unfortunately that would have to wait for several years, although he did remember a cursed items shop somewhere in london that might have them. He made a mental note to look into it.

Tired from mentally annoying Ginger, he picked up a book from a nearby table. It was heavy, and looked rather conspicuous amongst the lighter tomes of the students. It had no title on the red leather cover, instead he opened to the front page, where a symbol like a four with crosses through it was printed in black ink. A shudder ran through his stomach, as he closed up the grimoire quickly.

Loath to ask, he said 'Is this yours...Ginger?' \n\n
