What is with this weather? by Elizabeth

Activity was a staple in the life of Elizabeth Lavine. Sitting around in her common room or her dormitory, doing nothing except the occasional bit of homework was not suiting for the very active almost-13-year-old. But the weather seemed to not care at all for Lizzie's plight of boredom, and it just kept on snowing. It was on one day when the snowing had calmed and the wind was the only real sustainer of the frigid temperatures that Liz got fed up.

There she sat in the Pecari Commons, looking out one of the windows at the snow that was being systematically blown off the windowsill. Elizabeth sighed and slumped in her chair, letting her head roll back. The frustration of not being able to go anywhere was working on her last nerve. If it didn't stop this cold weather, she'd snap. They hadn't been able to go outside for long periods of time, much less have a chance to play quidditch, and her fingers itched to get hold of a quaffle again and put her new gloves to use. But Lizzie knew that she wasn't the only one who was being affected by this bout of cabin fever- she had seen many of her cohorts getting frustrated just the way she was now.

Lizzie closed her eyes, but just before they could shut completely, she got a glimpse of the window. Immediately, her eyes flew back open, staring in disbelief at the magicked window display. Their common room windows were supposed to show the viewer the outside weather patterns, and the one that was on display at that moment definitely wasn't the same as it had been only minutes earlier. The wind had stopped blowing the trees over, and there was green poking out from everywhere. This isn't right... she thought to herself, now sitting up and rubbing her eyes. After re-examining the window, she realized it wasn't a trick on her eyes- the weather was changing outside!

"Woah," she said softly, still observing the changing scene. \n\n
